JEBUSITES

A new day is arising dear children of the only living God. Greeting to all and welcome to The Three Minute Word blog. Today, Donna and I have been married two years and we are headed for lazy man lobster at Archer’s on the Pier in Rockland, Maine. Please take a moment to share these teachings as widely as possible to extend the reach of this Ministry, the reach of the Truth. The featured picture was taken a few days ago out my Study – Prayer Room window, the sun is rising, the trees are starting to bud, the start of a new day, a new season. As I sit down to write this (4th of May) plans are advancing rapidly for our move to San Antonio, Texas. San Antonio is where I was born again, filled with the Spirit, did much Ministry, and lived from 1984 until 2017, 33 years. The desire that God gave to move has been building and now we have the testimony of the inner witness, this is the time, God’s timing. It is a new day for us, a new season, a new and exciting chapter in the will of God and we are excited. Today I will continue teaching from the Book of Isaiah. Do we really understand how wonderful and merciful our God is to give us extraordinary insights into the path’s others have walked so we can better examine our own path? Are we being attentive or are we thinking we are a special case? Unfortunately, many of us lean way too much on our own understanding and not near enough on His, the creator of all things, and the One who knows all things. Forgive us Father. Now, let’s delve into todays Bible Study, let’s read our primary text aloud, yes, out loud. How does faith come?
Isaiah 1:1-3 (KJV)
1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
3 The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.
Yesterday we started our study of this wonderful and powerful Book of Isaiah. The Lord is giving Isaiah a vision of four specific and successive kings plus “Judah and Jerusalem”. I talked about whether Jerusalem is part of the territory inherited by the tribe of Judah or the tribe or Benjamin. One can find maps showing either one. The eighteenth chapter of Joshua reviews the inheritance of the tribe of Benjamin. The following verse appears to place Jerusalem as a part of the territory inherited by the tribe of Benjamin.
Joshua 18:28 (KJV)
28 And Zelah, Eleph, and Jebusi, which is Jerusalem, Gibeath, and Kirjath; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the children of Benjamin according to their families.
Both Judah and Benjamin tried to drive the Jebusites out of Jerusalem and were not successful in that day.
Joshua 15:63 (KJV)
63 As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out: but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.
Judges 1:21 (KJV)
21 And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem unto this day.
Then King David comes along and the Jebusites are history!
1 Chronicles 11:4-9 (KJV)
4 And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land.
5 And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come hither. Nevertheless David took the castle of Zion, which is the city of David.
6 And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.
7 And David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David.
8 And he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
9 So David waxed greater and greater: for the LORD of hosts was with him.
What about the Jebusites in our own lives? Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as your Bible Teacher and a Prophetic Voice in your life I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
