Today I am going to talk for a bit about the topic of multiculturalism. Multiculturalism is a common topic and promoted as a good thing. My question is; is multiculturalism a good, a Godly, Biblical idea? As the word implies this is the existence and expression of multiple distinct cultures within a certain defined geographical location such as a country, state, county or community. First let us look at the definition of culture according to Dictionary.com. The culture of a society and therefore the persons of that society are attributes that are regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits and so on. It can be regarded as a certain form of civilization. Culture is the behaviors, beliefs, and characteristics of a particular social, ethnic, or age group. Culture can also be regarded as the sum total of the ways of living built up by a group of human beings and transmitted from one generation to another. This may be a little boring but it is essential to establish a starting point.
America has historically been referred to as a melting pot. The contents of a melting pot are liquid so when another ingredient is added it also melts and becomes a part of the mass and is indistinguishable from the original contents of the melting pot. An emigrant from Japan should be expected to immerse themselves into American culture because they want to be an American. They would be expected to speak English, understand and embrace the Constitution of the United States, and understands and embrace our Judea-Christian foundation. In this way they will still physically appear Asian but their language and general way of living will become like other Americans. That is not to say that they will not still enjoy their favorite Japanese foods or have other behaviors and characteristics of their original home country but they will think and speak of themselves as Americans from Japan and not Japanese living in America.
Over the last few years we have watched mass emigrations out of the Middle East to surrounding countries but more importantly to Europe and a lesser degree here to America. For the most part they are fleeing war, and extremism within their own culture and religion (Islam). Others are fleeing because they are Christians and being killed and or severely persecuted in their home country. Persons from Muslim (Islam) countries are frequently governed by Sharia Law. According to a recent article from the Family Research Council titled “How Do You Solve a Problem like Sharia?” the majority of Muslins in America believe they should have the choice of being governed under Sharia Law. Sharia Law authorizes atrocities like murder of non-believers who won’t convert, beheadings, honor killings, and the mutilation of sexual organs in women, the rape of unaccompanied females, the imprisonment and rape of young boys, and other acts that we (Americans) find reprehensible. Being a Muslim embracing Sharia Law and being an American are diametrically opposed ideas and as incompatible with one another as oil and water. It is as ridiculous as asking what do the devil and God have in common? They have zero in common.
The only people admitted to the United States for the purpose of obtaining citizenship should be those that can in some way demonstrate that they want to be Americans, who embrace the English language and the ideas common to the founding era. Displaced persons who want to live in a community of other displaced persons retaining the language, and ideas of that culture should not become citizens.
A key to a cohesive culture therefore a cohesive nation appears to reside in the language and the ideas intrinsic to that language and the ideas common to that nation. For example in English we have the words coincidence (accident, chance, fluke, quirk, happenstance, or twist of fate) and luck (fluke, godsend, windfall, blessing, break, providence, good fortune) however those words and therefore those ideas do not exist in the Hebrew language. In the English language there is the idea that things just happen and there is no explanation at any level. Even though we will hear in America that everything happens for a reason, at the same time there is this idea of a coincidence or luck. These two ideas are not compatible and therefore introduce a confusion into the culture, the thinking of the culture. It is also conclusive evidence that English is not the language of God, of Heaven.
In the beginning Adam and their descendants were of one language and they had a commonality of thinking (ideas), initially being God given ideas. The God given ideas were corrupted leading to the flood of Noah. Again, after the flood of Noah there was a common language and commonality of ideas with the eight people who restarted civilization. We then come to the Tower of Babel we find that the people have not spread over the earth in disobedience to God but retaining a single language, and a new ungodly commonality of ideas descending into wickedness. This disobedience to a God ordered culture (common language and ideas) led to a confusion of speech that arose from a confusion of ideas and multiple separate cultures were formed. Think about it. When a person is born again they come out of one culture (kingdom of darkness) and enter into another (Kingdom of God). Each kingdom has its way of thinking, talking, and acting even though they may all be speaking English for example.
When I speak about ideas and a diversity of ideas I am not talking about how to make a better car etc.; I am talking about ideas that are contrary to the prevailing culture, the founding era, and the Holy Bible. In that context diversity is bad and leads into increased wickedness and that becomes the new culture in time. When we hear discussion of tolerance we are generally hearing how we need to be more accepting and tolerant of a particular sin. This is a tool to destroy the existing culture with the introduction of new accepted ideas. Allowing another culture(s) to arise in America contrary with the America of the Founders and the America that God intended and that I desire will lead to destruction. These are demonic ideas.
Just think for a moment about the Garden of Eden and the culture instituted of God. Then think about the result of diversity, tolerance and the introduction of multiculturalism with the adoption of the serpents’ ideas. America is descending into an indescribable morass and chaos if our current course is not radically changed. There is much that can be said from the Bible to my point, God told the Israelites over and over not to adopt any of the ideas of the surrounding nations and when they did they suffered, were conquered and went into captivity. Hello America, hello Church, where are we? Are we solidifying the solid Biblical foundations of this Covenant nation or are we running headlong into the ways of the heathen. Let me ask a few simple questions as I close this teaching. Is there a Biblical model with God embracing abortion? Is there a Biblical model of God supporting or winking at homosexual behavior or marriage? Is there a command from God or a Bible example for a graduated tax on citizens or in the Church for that matter? Is there a Bible example of command of God to transfer wealth from the wealthy to the poor? Is there a command from God for the government to provide healthcare? Is there a command from God or a Bible example for any government to provide welfare to the citizens? Let me save you some time, the answer is NO to all these questions. Sooooo who is behind these ungodly ideas?
John 10:10 (KJV)
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Romans 6:23 (KJV)
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
