PENTECOST
Saturday – May 19, 2018, Sivan 6, 5778

Today at approximately 6 pm until 6 pm tomorrow is the Day of Pentecost, a Feast of the Lord. God designated seven feasts for the Children of Israel to observe forever and these are prophetic and to be observed by the Church as well. First let’s see what the Lord told Moses to write down for the Jews and for us.
Leviticus 23:15-16 (KJV)
15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:
16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.
The first three spring feasts of four are Passover, Unleavened Bread, and Firstfruits. We all recognize these as prophetic of the Messiah, Christ Jesus, to come. Jesus is our Passover (1 Corinthians 5:7), He is our Unleavened Bread (John 6:48), and He is the Firstfruit (Romans 11:16) of Salvation. The fourth spring feast is the Feast of Passover. All of these were fulfilled in the first coming of Christ Jesus. Passover is fifty days from the Resurrection. Fifty is a number for the Holy Spirit and as you know the Holy Spirit was given back to man ten days after the ascension of Jesus into Heaven. Fifty is also the number of Jubile when all things are restored. That certainly happened for all who would receive and enter the Blood Covenant ratified by Jesus’ Blood.
Leviticus 25:10 (KJV)
10 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.
The Hebrews look at the giving of the Law on Mount Sinai as the first Pentecost or Feast of Weeks, when God Himself came down upon the mountain with fire and smoke. Fire and smoke are symbolic of the manifest presence of the Holy Spirit. The Day of Pentecost that the Church focuses upon is when the Holy Spirit reentered the earth available to quicken men’s spirit (salvation) and upon request and yielding be filled with the Holy Spirit and power with the initial evidence being the speaking of tongues. That was the return of the Blessing, the Blessing given Adam, the same Blessing that Abraham was given.
Genesis 1:28 (KJV)
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Galatians 3:13-14 (KJV)
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
On the fortieth day after the Resurrection Jesus, the day of His ascension to the right hand of the Father, He told the disciples to do nothing until the coming of the Promise.
Acts 1:4 (KJV)
4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
Acts 1:8 (KJV)
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
The word “power” above is miracle working power, it is the power of the Holy Spirit, the power of the Blessing. Notice they were to do nothing until they had this power. For what end, that power was to be manifest not the Word of testimony only.
Sure enough, some ten days after the ascension of Jesus, some fifty days from the Resurrection the Holy Spirit and power is given according to the promise of the Father. This was a most wonderful Jubile!
Acts 2:1-4 (KJV)
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Once again, all was set right (see Leviticus 25:10) and by our faith, and faith only, we walk in its fullness.
Until our next publication, I speak this Scriptural prayer for your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
2 Peter 1:2-4 (KJV)
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
