LIFE IN HEAVEN – PART FOUR
Saturday – May 19, 2018, Sivan 5, 5778

Welcome back to this wonderful and hopefully eye-opening study of life in Heaven, the abode of God, and what else may have been present. This writing is not based on any number of books that have been written by people who testify about having been to Heaven and returned. This teaching, and to some extent a mental exercise, is based on the Bible and what we know about our God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Israel). Much of this teaching will be speculation and not backed by a Scripture and hopefully those times are clear to the reader and will not bring confusion. Have fun with this, relax, let’s allow the Holy Spirit to expand our thinking outside of our very rigid religious boxes. With that disclaimer let us move forward.
Thus far I have been building a foundation upon which we can stand and think. From Scripture we are aware of a physical realm and we are aware of a spiritual realm. Both are equally real. The spiritual realm is outside the sensory powers of the physical realm, such as our five senses or the various instruments man has devised to detect and measure things in this physical dimension. However, the physical realm is detectable and inhabited by spiritual beings. We have discussed how the spiritual realm is superior to and gave rise to all that is in the physical realm. The physical realm is subject to the spiritual.
As we have talked about the eternity before Genesis 1:1 we have come to realize in a broader context that God has not changed and will not change. What we know about God now has always been and always will be. That is not to say there is not much more perhaps to know about God, but I am saying what He says which is that He changes not. I also entertained the idea that although we are aware of two realms or realities, there may be many more and it is likely that is true based on the unlimited nature of our God. It is also most certain that God did not just stumble across the idea of creating physical or other realm (other than the realm of God and Heaven) things. A Creator is one of the things that He is, it is part of what defines Him, it is also part of what defines us a His spiritual offspring. Our spirit man is the same as the spirit of God (all of God). One day we will be shown, have full access to all the things of God back through eternity and we can see these things and understand them in detail. Before I move to Genesis 1:1-2 I believe we can conclude that God has always had a place that is called Heaven. That space (I suspect a meaningless term in the spirit realm) has always included a throne room for it is likely that there have always been angels, God’s army (and ours), of one design or another. Perhaps what Isaiah saw in the Old Testament period is a bit of that existence.
Isaiah 6:1-2 (KJV)
1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
Heaven has also likely included all the things that we could and would recognize from the physical realm in which we live. This would be things like mountains, lakes, streams, and so on. This would be true because that is what He gave to us as His precious children. We are primarily spirit beings but due to sin and the curse we have this dense filter that limits our view into the spirit realm except by faith, the gifts of God, and the intrusion of the spirit into the natural. Now let’s turn our attention to the next or second time frame which is that of Genesis 1:1-2.
LIFE IN HEAVEN – Genesis 1:1 to Genesis 1:2
Genesis 1:1 (KJV)
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
The preceding verse is the first record we have of a creation that is separate from but contiguous with the abode of God. Since God is everywhere there is nothing that is separate from God not even hell.
Psalm 139:7-9 (KJV)
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
It is not clear when hell was created but it was likely during the time period encompassed by Genesis 1:1 – 2. This current creation is a renovation of the original very briefly described in Genesis 1:1. What we know from Genesis 1:1 is that God (Elohim) created the earth and heavens (pleural). There is no mention that the heavens were populated with planets or the galaxies we recognize today. I believe that this creation of Genesis 1:1 if we were to be present would see it much as we see the creation of this present age. This creation of Genesis 1:1 includes this planet called earth, at least two heavens, and puts us on notice that this is the beginning, the beginning of the creation of which we are most aware. I very much doubt that this creation of heavens included the abode of God but would not go to war about that, since God may like a new house just like we do from time to time. We are in His image and likeness. I will pick up right here next Saturday with a discussion of who was in Heaven and who was on the earth in the time frame of Genesis 1:1-2.
Until our next publication, I speak this Scriptural prayer for your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
2 Peter 1:2-4 (KJV)
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
