SONS AND DAUGHTERS
Friday – Aug 4, 2017

Welcome back to this wonderful Bible Study taken from the Book of Hebrews and presented by Dr. Wood and The Three Minute Word publications. It is Friday and the day I remind us all of our obligation to pray for the Church, pray (decree and intercede) for the people who name Jesus as Lord. The Church pictured is the State Street Baptist Church, Presque Isle, Maine and I am sure you can tell the photo is not recent. Like this picture the Church is dreary and lacking color when Christ died to give us joy unspeakable and full of glory. The Church must arise demonstrating the wonderful beauty of the Kingdom of God. It is time for the Church to arise and put all the work of the enemy under our feet, for we are more than able. We are not to arise with just spiritual dreams of wonderful things in the sweet bye and bye but the wonder of God manifesting among us and through us to show all His unlimited goodness. The Lord is good and His mercies endure to all generations. Now to our Bible Study text.
Hebrews 2:12-15 (KJV)
12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.
13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
As we study down through this wonderful Book of Hebrews, section by section, verse by verse, even word to word it is easy to get lost in the minutia and overlook the wonder of it all. This God of all, the God that is absolutely without limits of any kind, wanted a family. He made the perfect place for this family and made them male and female in His image and likeness, of like kind with Him, and created them just a little lower (not a lot) than Himself. He invested His own authority and His own power in this new creation and gave them self-determination (freewill). He provided them with spiritual and physical laws which when observed would keep them safe. This man chose deception over the Truth and was instantly separated from the God of all. They were separated from Father God, and their new father was Satan and they were plunged into the curse. Even though this man had entered into unimaginable treachery God had a plan of redemption. I suppose that God hoped this plan would never have to be invoked, however if it was God was determined to get His family back, at least all who would choose Him.
Right from the moment of sin this plan flew into place first with the establishment of the first blood covenant (Old Testament) which provided a temporary covering of sin for mankind. This old covenant of innocent blood was available to those who would chose to participate bowing before the Almighty God. This covenant of blood foreshadowed the coming Blood Covenant where the Blood shed would be His own and would take sin, the separator, out of the way forever. This loving (obedient to His Word) Almighty Creator God left the Throne of Glory putting all that made Him God to one side and became as the man He had created in the Garden. God did not need a Savior but we sure did!
He allowed Himself to go to the Cross of Calvary and joyfully and willingly surrendered His physical life. He allowed Himself to be made sin, the sins of all of mankind for all of time were heaped on Him and He died spiritually being instantly separated from His Father. When He surrendered His spirit, He descended into Hell where He defeated the devil with His own innocent Blood (Lamb of God) and the Words of His testimony. He spoke the very same Words His Father spoke to the Prophets. The Prophets spoke those Words for centuries into the earth even from the Garden. When the Father found that the devils case was without merit He was obligated to raise Him for the dead and restore all. Because He lives we can live also. Jesus, the Lamb of God which takes away the sins of the world, brought His very own Blood to the Mercy Seat of Heaven where all the Words of this New Covenant have been written for millennia awaiting the ratifying Blood of the Lamb.
We have been reading in these first (especially the first) two chapters of Hebrews how God restored Jesus fully as God and ordained Him to be the head of those who chose this marvelous redemption. Everything that the Father did for Jesus (as man and God) He has done for us. We have full restoration and more! The more is that we are in Christ Jesus and sin no longer instantly separates us from God. In the presence of sin our relationship is maintained however our fellowship is seriously hindered. In many ways, it is like a misbehaving child at home. The relationship is preserved but the fellowship is a little tense until there is repentance. When we sin, knowingly or not the door to judgment is opened and the devil can legally be allowed to steal, kill, and destroy in our lives just like Job. We can still go to Heaven but arrive in terrible shape. God did all of this to bring many sons and daughters to Himself. O what a Savior!
Hebrews 2:13 (GW)
13 In addition, Jesus says, “I will trust him.” And Jesus says, “I am here with the sons and daughters God has given me.”
The Father with tears in His eyes and joy on His face is saying all day long; come to me, come out of the world (out of the curse) and I will receive you, look I’m knocking, please invite me in.
2 Corinthians 6:17-18 (KJV)
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Revelation 3:19-22 (KJV)
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Jesus stands at the door of the unrighteous and the righteous alike. He wants the unrighteous to receive this free gift of salvation and He wants the righteous to plunge into their wonderful place in the Kingdom of God. Will we the righteous, the sons and daughters of the Almighty God become a demonstration project for the world?
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
