SWORD OF THE SPIRIT – THE WORD OF GOD
Monday – May 8, 2017

Greetings from Patti and me at The Three Minute Word publication. Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge (Implemented understanding) of God, and of Jesus our Lord.
2 Peter 1:2 (KJV)
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
Over the last few weeks we have been studying the wiles (deceptions) of the devil and have now plunged into the whole armour of God. This armour, His armour on us, guarantees that we can stand which is to continue our Kingdom assignments in spite of natural circumstances. We are well able to overcome, we are after all more than conquerors through Him who loves us. Let’s review our primary text then dive into our topic which is the whole armour (old English spelling) of God.
Ephesians 6:13-18 (KJV)
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
There are seven facets of the whole armour of God mentioned in our primary text and they are: 1) Truth, 2) Righteousness, 3) Peace, 4) Faith, 5) Salvation, 6) Word of God, and 7) Prayer. Thus far I have talked about the first five facets of the whole armour of God and today we will move on to the sixth facet which is “the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God”. Recall that these seven facets of the whole armour of God are to work together as a unified whole. If you have a garden with seven rows you don’t just water and fertilize one or two rows but all seven alike. In that way all seven rows grow together and mature together. Seven children all of about the same level of knowledge and maturity will play together better than a mixture. We have all heard the saying that a thing, a group of people, or an individual is only as strong as the weakest link. In the context of the armour of God we are only as strong as our weakest link.
I think even for the new believer (a novice) in the Kingdom of God it can be seen that each of these facets of the armour of God are interdependent on the other. The Truth for example which at its core is the Word of God (Jesus, Word, Holy Spirit, and Love) must be implemented by faith in Christ Jesus in love. The knowledge and implementation of the Truth makes us better representatives of Him, a better revelation of Him, and a better expression of Him in the Church and to the world. We must be firm, unmovable, in our knowledge of our righteousness in Him. If we waver on our righteousness, our right standing with Him, and our capacity to do thing right as He does things right we will be open to the wiles of the devil like Adam. Our knowledge that we are one with God and at peace with God must be rock solid otherwise the circumstances the enemy stirs up will get into us and bring stealing, killing, and destruction into our lives. We must believe (have faith) every Word of this Holy Bible, we must believe not only that God is but also that He is rewarder of those that diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). In Him (Jesus) every promise of God is yes and amen (so be it).
2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV)
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
We must know that our need for salvation and our acceptance of salvation comes by way of the Word of God, it is of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Jesus ratified The Blood Covenant initiated with Abraham some 2000 years earlier on the cross of Calvary with His blood as a man and His blood as God. He took that blood to the Mercy Seat in Heaven and applied the blood to it and the New Covenant, an eternal Covenant, a full restoration to God forever. In response to our faith in God the Holy Spirit quickens (makes alive) our dead soul and restores us to right standing (righteousness) with the Father. Cemented, immoveable into our knowledge must be the realities that we now have eternal life, we have a new citizenship in the Kingdom of God, we are in Christ Jesus, we have been restored to the place of the original intent of the Father, and we will soon have a glorious body just like Jesus’.
I hope that each one reading this teaching is seeing in vivid color how intricately all of these facets are interwoven one with the other and are inseparable. If they are separated it causes them to diminish in power and perhaps be nonfunctional altogether. In teaching and preaching they may be separated as a matter of convenience but we can never forget they operate as a unified whole. Our overall strength, effectiveness in the Kingdom of God is only as strong as the weakest link. Let us pray: O Lord show me my weaknesses and help me to be strong in the name of Jesus. Thank you Father for your graciousness, and your kindness. The Sword of the Spirit (The Word of God) is both a defensive and offensive weapon (as are the others). As I finish for today let’s think about the following passage.
Jeremiah 1:9-10 (KJV)
9 Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
The Word of God is a double edged sword designed to tear down the kingdoms of Satan and to build the Kingdom of God. That Word is to be in each of our mouths brother and sister. I will pick up here tomorrow. Now the blessing, receive it in Jesus name.
Please determine in your heart (mind, thinking) to receive and walk in the Blessing which is freely available to all believers.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
