THE COMFORTER – THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH

Greetings to the dear and precious saints who are friends and partners of this ministry and welcome back to this empowering study of the Book of John. God is so good dear ones. If you are not yet a friend or partner of this ministry do so today. A friend not only gives a thumbs up or heart (Facebook) but shares the teachings. A partner does that plus partners with us financially. Partnership brings increased power and capacity to this ministry and your individual lives. The pictures today, Tuesday, and Wednesday are courtesy of a good friend of this Ministry and were taken in Pittsfield, Maine.
As I am sure you all are well aware COVID-19 remains. Why do you think that might be? Could it be that God’s people have not repented? Just a thought. From the beginning of this Pandemic when states of emergency were declared by the Federal government and the State governments, the Church has fallen into three broad categories. Some Churches never closed or stopped having services. Others have complied with the mandates of government. These mandates by the way are temporary and are not aimed at stripping away rights but protecting us from others, and others from us. A third group complied at first then opened the Church back up with “safety measures” in place. These “safety measures” are better than no safety measures but you were likely safer at Walmart. Are all three of these groups right or just the one you or me are in? There are many opinions (flesh/carnal) but only one Truth (Scriptural).
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text from the Book of John and read it out loud. Faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17) and it is impossible to please God without faith (Hebrews 11:6).
John 16:8-13 (KJV)
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
We are in the final hours before Jesus goes to the Cross, descends into Hell in our place, preaches the good news to the captives in the Bosom of Abraham, is resurrected, restored fully as God, and takes His Blood to the Mercy Seat of Heaven. He tasted death so that we never have to taste death. Jesus got the keys of death and Hell over that three days. As a result we will not go to the Hell we deserve, and we will not taste death (Hebrews 2:9). Yes, your mortal body and mine may fall to the earth one day, but it will not be any more dramatic for us than taking a coat off. You and I enjoy the finished work of Calvary and the Resurrection and we must never miss an opportunity to rejoice in thanksgiving, praise, and worship (submission to the Holy Spirit, and to the Truth (John 4:23-24)).
Let’s join this conversation Jesus is having with the disciples with an eager, willing, whole heart to receive, believe, and do. Jesus is reminding them that He is about to leave and they should consider this good news not only for His sake for He is returning to His Father but for their sake. It is good news for their sake, and ours, for Jesus was and has now sent the Holy Spirit. He refers here to the Holy Spirit as the Comforter. As you saw from our text, in just a few verses Jesus will refer to the Comforter as the “Spirit of truth”. As you will recall the definition of the word ‘Comforter’ (paraklētos transliterated from the Greek according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary) in this context is an intercessor, consoler, advocate, and comforter according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. As we will soon see, He, the Comforter who is also the Spirit of Truth (I capitalized the T in truth due to its Divine nature) guides us “into all truth”. Jesus goes on to tell them and us that when He (the Comforter) is come He will convict (reprove) the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. There is only one sin that Jesus mentions which is not believing upon Him. The Comforter will convict us the children of God that we have righteousness and the world of the need for righteousness which is right standing with God. Jesus will not longer be present, because he came and paid the price of sin, we can and they could be in right standing with the Father. They and we can have and do have the same standing with the Father as Jesus (2 Cor 5:21).
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
