THE GREATER THINGS – PART THIRTY-TWO

Don’t you dare skip over this introduction. Rejoice and again I say rejoice! Perhaps you don’t feel like rejoicing. Who is in charge of our emotions, our feelings? Our emotions are given of God and can be wonderful, and they can also be a snare. Many thoughts come with attached emotions. We are in charge, full charge, of our soul which is our mind, our will, and our emotions. We and we alone are in charge of what we think about, we alone exercise our will, and we alone choose our emotions. One secret is focus. Where is my focus, your focus? Is this easy? No, not at first but very doable and a key to success in every area of our lives. We have the capacity to check our thoughts every six seconds. Are we doing that? Every thought must be run through the Scripture filter. Dear brother and sister there is not ‘Church’ and then the rest of life, it is all one life. We do way too much compartmentalizing. We have all of our boxes that we open from time to time as though there are no connections between them. This must not be, it is all one box, and that box is the Kingdom of God box. These are not the mutterings of this writer to fill space but has everything to do with your life and my life today and for eternity. Please take a moment and share this Bible teaching as widely as possible to extend our reach. Thank you!
Now, let’s shift our attention back to the focus of this Sunday Bible teaching series. We are talking about the works Jesus did during His time in the earth as a man Anointed of God. We are commanded to do as Jesus did, and we are commanded and empowered with both authority and Power to accomplish the greater works as well. You are familiar with the following verse but we will review it and meditate it yet again.
John 14:12 (KJV)
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
This is a command to all of the body of Christ, all believers! Am I a believer, are you a believer? This is not addressed to the Five-Fold Ministers alone, but to all believers. I want to deal a little more directly today with the “greater works” Jesus referred too. It seems clear to me that the reason Jesus stood up to read the first verse and half of the second verse of Isaiah sixty-one is because that was the limit of His Ministry, His authority in the earth.
Luke 4:16-20 (KJV)
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
There is this abominable doctrine the devils have promulgated which is that God can do anything anytime He wishes in the earth. He definitely has the Power but He does not have the authority and He will not violate His Word. As we look at Isaiah chapter sixty-one below, as it continues we are told expressly, plainly, about the greater things.
Isaiah 61:1-4 (KJV)
1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.
Are the waste places getting better, are the desolated areas be raised up, and what about our cites? Is the Church of the only Living God bringing life everywhere they go or are things unchanged and even worse? Why? We have lost our image and do not really believe what I am writing.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Sunday.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
