THE PEACE OF GOD
Thursday – March 30, 2017

Greetings partners and friends in the name of the Lord Jesus and The Three Minute Word publication. Isn’t God so good especially to all of His children?
As we consider our Bible Study concerning the armour of God we are now focused on a few of the things that are ‘of God’ like the armour is of God.
Ephesians 6:10-13 (KJV)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
I spoke briefly that the Kingdom of God is of or from God, one could accurately say originated with God coming from His mouth like everything else. The Kingdom of God has three major components which are righteousness, peace, and joy. These are all spiritual constructs which give rise to all physical manifestations of the Kingdom of God in our lives. As we move along with our Bible Study let’s briefly look at the peace of God.
Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
The word ‘careful’ in Philippians 4:6 above means to be anxious, to take thought, or to be distracted. So we have a command directly from the Throne of God through the Apostle Paul to us to not be anxious, not to take anxious thoughts, and not to be distracted. Does this sound like the command to cast or throw our cares of this mortal life over onto Him? We are to talk to God about everything, appeal to Him, His Word, and make our requests or demands known and all with thanksgiving. We are not giving thanks because the outcome is uncertain but because it is certain. The victory, the triumph is dependent upon and directly related to the presence of thanksgiving. When we go to the bank and make a demand for our money we say please and thank you and so it is with God.
Now in Philippians 4:7 we are told that when we use the keys (no anxiety, prayer, thanksgiving) given in verse six we possess the ‘peace of God’ which passes natural understanding and keeps our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. You see a reprobate might be able to not be anxious, and make a request to God, and even say thank you to God but he/she is not in Christ Jesus, lost, without hope, and without an answer from God. The one request God will respond to concerning the sinner (reprobate) is to make Jesus Lord. So what is the peace of God? Peace is an organ, a fruit produced, a capacity of our quickened soul an exact duplicate of our Father’s peace. We have the peace of God when we are joined with Him (quickened at salvation), made one with Him, and are completely dependent upon Him. That capacity, that organ, that capacity to produce the fruit of peace is there from our conception but dormant, dark, dead. So one leg of the Kingdom of God is being made the righteousness of God and the second is peace, being made one with God. His circumstances are our circumstances and our circumstances are His circumstances and He said to throw our circumstances onto Him and He would take care of them. Peter did not sink into the water until he got his eyes off the Word (Jesus) and onto his circumstances. Peter went from spiritual thought to natural.
This knowledge that our reality is that we are one with God, called the peace of God, guards and hems in our mind, our thoughts (heart). The word ‘heart’ used here in Philippians 4:7 is that area of the mind, spiritual organ that is the decision maker, the seat of our thoughts and feelings (devils playground if we allow). Will we decide to look at our circumstances and try to deal with them ourselves or will we cast our cares onto the Lord keeping our focus on the objectives given us for our part in the Kingdom of God. Please do not get the wrong idea here, each of us still must deal with things of this life like getting the groceries, taking care of the yard, and the wayward child. However, anxiety (worry) is to have no part in us, but prayer with thanksgiving to God is to be dominate in our thoughts, language, and ways.
Finally let’s deal with the word ‘minds’ in Philippians 4:7. The Greek word transliterated to English as minds is hymōn according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. The meaning of this word has to do with those things which affect us and not others. You probably have noticed that this word is very similar to the English word hymen. The hymen is a part of the female anatomy which partially guards the entrance to the vagina, a most intimate area. In the natural this is an area that has everything to do with reproduction, productivity. Spiritually, the peace of God has a key role in our ability to carry out the commands of God. If we are tied up in knots worrying or anxious about very personal things and not trusting God we are useless in the Kingdom of God. The peace of God gives us the ability to choose rightly, according to the Word of God, including those areas most intimate to us in our lives.

Remember that I have published two books recently. First was the
book titled “Temptation – The Battle for our Thoughts”. Perhaps this book will illuminate temptation in ways you have not imagined. Second is the book titled “And God Said – The Creator’s Provision”. This book illuminates the will of God from the beginning. These books are available at Amazon Books.
