WHAT IS YOUR VISION FOR 2024? – PART TWO
Greetings to all and welcome back to our Sunday Bible Study. We have just plunged into a new year, what is your vision? The featured picture is of a sunrise over the land with low hanging fog perhaps obscuring details of that to come. A person recently said that they expected 2024 to be better than 2023. The question back to them was, what are you going to change? You see without change or changes 2024 will look much like 2023. Einstein is credited with saying that the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.
Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)
18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
Let’s look at this verse in two other translations to perhaps get further insight, revelation.
Proverbs 29:18 (HCSB)
18 Without revelation people run wild, but one who listens to instruction will be happy.
We can see here the Scripture is speaking of a vision which came from God. Dear ones this is where the Church is today. Let’s look at Young’s Literal Translation.
Proverbs 29:18 (YLT)
18 Without a Vision is a people made naked, And whoso is keeping the law, O his happiness!
Notice the V in Vision is capitalized. This is a vision, a revelation, from Heaven, God given. Do you suppose this naked is like Adam and Eve in the Garden when they left the Word of God, Divine Revelation and went with lies? The Anointed is perhaps not departed by severely hindered by thoughts, words, and actions contrary to the Word of God.
What is Jesus’ vision for us, at least in part?
John 14:12 (KJV)
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Here we see in just a few words the vision that Jesus, our Lord, has for us, those that believe on Him. This is a command not a give it a try deal. Perhaps we can find a “good” theologian to explain to us that it really doesn’t mean what it says. Jesus commands us to not only do the works He did in His earthly Ministry but to do greater works than these. I have heard many simplify this to, well there is more of us and that is the greater works. Really? Who is doing the works of Jesus on a consistent basis? What are some of the works that Jesus did (the Father through Him)?
Matthew 11:4-5 (KJV)
4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:
5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
Are seeing this in our own lives, in our Churches? Are we talking to the Lord to show us how to step into all that He commanded?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here with part-three next Sunday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
