WHAT IS YOUR VISION FOR 2024? – PART THREE

Greetings to all and welcome back to our Sunday Bible Study. We have just plunged into a new year, what is your vision? The featured picture is of a sunrise over the land with low hanging fog perhaps obscuring details of that to come. A person recently said that they expected 2024 to be better than 2023. The question back to them was, what are you going to change? You see without change or changes 2024 will look much like 2023. Einstein is credited with saying that the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. Sadly, it seems that too many people are simply going day to day with no expectation of increase. We serve a God of increase.

Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)

18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

What do you say, let’s you and I choose doing the Word and being happy and leave the perishing to the rebellious ones. What is Jesus’ vision for us, at least in part?

John 14:12 (KJV)

12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

We left off last Sunday with the following Scripture which tells us some of the works that Jesus did and has commanded us to do. Why are the works He did and the greater works assigned to us? Jesus has gone to the Father. We are in the earth. We have authority restored as Adam had before the fall and we also have the blessing, the Power of God. The Power flows in response to the proper (legal) exercise of authority. Now let’s look once again at some of the works Jesus did in His earthly Ministry.

Matthew 11:4-5 (KJV)

4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:

5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

Is any of this being taught in your Church? This command from our Lord is not to a select few but to every believer. Some have relegated these things to times of revival or awakenings. Is that what the Scripture says? It is reported that a prominent preacher of the past made the statement that we preach what revival brings not what brings revival. Yes, there are time we may need a shaking a time of reviving if we have grown complacent. The way I read the Scripture is that Jesus expected this to be a day in and day out occurrence for His believers. This needs to be preached as well as what puts us in position to walk as our Lord walked. Bottom line, we don’t believe it, we don’t have faith for it in our own lives nor in our Church. The lack of faith, unbelief, is what keeps us out of the Promised Land just like it did the folks of old.

Next week we will explore the “greater works” that our Lord spoke about.
