Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ and any others seeing what this is all about. Welcome to our study of the precious Bible Book of Isaiah. The featured picture is a Church in Rhode Island. The purpose of a Church picture is to remind us all of the command from our Lord to continually intercede for our brothers and sisters near and far. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud, yes, out loud, you know why.
Isaiah 60:6-10 (NKJV)
6 The multitude of camels shall cover your land, The dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; All those from Sheba shall come; They shall bring gold and incense, And they shall proclaim the praises of the LORD.
7 All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together to you, The rams of Nebaioth shall minister to you; They shall ascend with acceptance on My altar, And I will glorify the house of My glory.
8 “Who are these who fly like a cloud, And like doves to their roosts?
9 Surely the coastlands shall wait for Me; And the ships of Tarshish will come first, To bring your sons from afar, Their silver and their gold with them, To the name of the LORD your God, And to the Holy One of Israel, Because He has glorified you.
10 “The sons of foreigners shall build up your walls, And their kings shall minister to you; For in My wrath I struck you, But in My favor I have had mercy on you.
As we look at many of these Church buildings I have featured in these teachings, do we suppose any of them looked at all like the Tabernacle in the wildness or the Temple in Jerusalem? I am not talking about the architectural appearance but the quality of workmanship and the beauty. Are our Churches the most magnificent buildings in the town or city? If not, why not? It is the blasphemous poverty teachings that came into the Church and has been perpetuated from generation to generation. You probably have heard people say: “well we have enough for us”, “the Lord has taken care of us”. We have been taught to be satisfied with a just enough status. Where is the excess, the overflow, for the work of the Kingdom?
This whole passage which is our primary text is about abundance, it is about great overflow, which we are to possess. We are to have a great overflow individually and as a group. Otherwise, how do you transform cities, desolate areas? Do you, do I, believe any of this? Do we just read over it thinking it was for another people but not for us. Is God a respecter of persons? Perhaps we think it means something else since we don’t have it and we don’t know anyone that has it. Rich Christians especially rich Christian leaders are despised, hated, lied about, and subjected to vitriolic speech by saint and sinner alike. Is that what the Bible teaches or is that a device of Satan to keep the body of Christ from occupying what Jesus obtained when He conquered Satan at the Cross, in Hell, and in the Resurrection.
Since our Covenant, since the Cross, is a better Covenant than the Old Covenant should we excel beyond the saints of old? Through true worship of, and obedience to Jehovah, they walked in great abundance. Since we have an even better Covenant might we conclude that we are not engaged in true worship and obedience to our Father, our Lord and Savior? I suggest we all meditate of these things.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
