THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME
Video link: https://youtu.be/8cs1YA5xl2E
Greetings dear and precious saints and those who will soon be saints and welcome back to this exciting study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. What a wonderful Lord we serve with willing hearts. When I look back at my days of rebellion, I think how foolish, but when the evil one has you in his grip you think sin and darkness are fun and desirable. Thank you, Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit, for your mercy, compassion, and patience with me. The featured picture today is of a magnificent old Church in Virginia. The purpose of these Church pictures is to remind us to intercede for each other and the Church at large.
Ephesians 6:18 (NKJV)
18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the instructive, Prophetic, and Messianic Bible Book of Isaiah.
Isaiah 61:1-3 (NKJV)
1 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn,
3 To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”
Yesterday we left off with the question, “Are we to say this as well?” with regards to this passage. My guess is that many of the readers of this teaching are hesitant to repeat these verses in the first person, referring to themselves and their mission in the earth. Dear ones we also are Anointed for this very same mission in the earth. We are not called nor anointed to physically die for other people or for the purposes of the Kingdom. Jesus came and dealt with the sin problem so that we all who call Him Lord and Savior could and would do as He did. We are called to die to self and live to righteousness focusing on the purposes of the Kingdom. Look at the example of our Lord.
Acts 10:38 (NKJV)
38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
If you are filled with the Holy Spirit you are endued with Power from on High and fully capable of doing good, healing, and freeing people from the oppressions of the evil one(s).
Acts 1:8 (NKJV)
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
This is not all spiritual but physical and spiritual. The physical is the “doing good” part which requires an overflow of finances. The spiritual part is the healing and the freeing of people from the oppressions of the demons. As we come to the end of our teaching for today, let me once again remind us all that we have the blessing
Galatians 3:13-14 (NKJV)
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),
14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Notice we have the blessing of Abraham which was a physical blessing. Abraham was very rich! And because of Christ we have received the “promise of the Spirit through faith” in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:29 (NKJV)
29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Yes, Isaiah 61, the whole chapter is ours!
Lord willing, I will pick up right here Monday, tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day and a special teaching. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
