THE EUCHARIST AND THE TITHE

Welcome back to the trail of blood that started in Heaven and ends in Heaven. Jesus is the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world and with His Resurrection He took His very own Blood to the Mercy Seat of Heaven. In the mind, the reality of God, existence without time, the Redemption had already occurred when He breathed of Himself into the body of Adam. I will continue teaching today from my book, Awake, Arise, and Triumph, Book II, God’s Road to Redemption, chapter six. I concluded yesterday talking about Abram who has made it to Canaan and The Blood Covenant leading to the Cross and beyond, so that is where we will pick up today.
ABRAM/ABRAHAM – Part Three
Today I will pick up the life, the account of Abram in Genesis chapter fourteen. Abrams road to his purpose, his destiny is somewhat rocky as we have already seen. Perhaps you can identify with that. Back to Abram. Here in Genesis chapter fourteen, we find five kings confederate together, and they took certain people – women and the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah as well as Lot and his goods. So, Abram comes to the rescue, getting back the people, their goods, and the goods of the enemy.
Genesis 14:16 (KJV)
16 And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.
On Abrams return, the king of Sodom comes to meet him; as does Melchizedek, the king of Salem, who was also a priest of the most high God (Elyôn). Melchizedek brings bread and wine prophesying the coming Messiah and His sacrifice for all. We call this the communion table. It is here we first see the tithe, which is well before the Law. Abram tithed (gave 10%) of all to Melchizedek. Those of you that don’t want to tithe remember God changes not.
Genesis 14:18-22 (KJV)
18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.
19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,
Melchizedek is prophetic shadow of the coming Priest and King, our Messiah Christ Jesus. Jesus would become our sacrifice so that by His broken body and shed blood we could be redeemed to the Father and be like Him. Like Melchizedek we are king and priest of the most high God. So, by reference to the bread and wine, we find the ongoing trail of blood that will culminate at Calvary and testify forever from the Mercy Seat of Heaven.
Did you see how the king of Sodom offers Abram the goods (which Abram refuses for God is his source) and wants the people. Remember, Satan always wants the people.
Genesis 14:21 (KJV)
21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself. [2]
Abrams response!
Genesis 14:23 (KJV)
23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich: [2]
We also see another spiritual Truth come into view here and that is the idea of being a joint heir. Melchizedek refers to Abram as possessor of heaven and earth, for he is loyal to Elyôn; and then Abram refers to Elyôn as the possessor of heaven and earth. Because Abram is of God, Abram is also possessor through Elyôn of heaven and earth. Likewise, we in Christ Jesus are possessor of heaven and earth (Hebrews 1:2).
Genesis 14:19 (KJV)
19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
Genesis 14:22 (KJV)
22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,
God has promised Abram that in him all families of the earth will be blessed, meaning the coming Messiah, the redeemer; and now they, together, are about to take another step. Moving forward, as we enter chapter fifteen of Genesis, we find Abram lamenting to God that he has no heir; and God assures him he will have an heir, and it will be his very own child. God takes him outside the tent and shows him the sky saying:
Genesis 15:5-6 (KJV)
5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
TAKE HOME:
- When the enemy gets in God will give you everything and more back. We have this example with Lot but remember David at Ziklag.
- The Prophetic trail of Blood to the Messiah is starting to become clearer as we follow the life of Abram.
- Tithing has been from the beginning, will be forever, God changes not.
Lord willing, I will resume right here next week. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
