TOUCH ME NOT

Greetings to the precious friends and partners of this Ministry and The Three Minute Word blog. Please take a moment to share this teaching as widely as possible to bring the Truth to those beyond the reach of this Ministry today. I thought you might enjoy a summertime (in Maine) photo today so here it is, Donna and me at Smalls Falls on our way to Rangeley Maine with Pastor Tom and Lori. Beautiful fellowship, wonderful summer day, and lots of talking about our good, good God. God is so good dear ones. Now, let’s turn our attention to this powerful teaching from the Book of John. Let’s all read our primary Bible text aloud, yes, out loud.
John 20:16-19 (KJV)
16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.
19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
I think we can easily see that this is one happy girl at the feet of the risen Savior. Her love in the face of great physical evidence that Jesus, hope, was gone forever drove her to want to serve Him beyond the grave. That is why she is here and not home mourning but to anoint Him in burial. But He didn’t stay buried, praise the Lord. Jesus is fresh from Hell, the Bosom of Abraham, and about to lead those captive in the Bosom of Abraham on to Heaven and be restored fully as God by the Father. Notice Jesus tells Mary to go tell His brethren, not His servants or subjects but brothers, that He is risen and ascending to the Father. He is ascending to His Father and her (their) Father, His God, and her (their) God. Oh, what a Savior! Now, let’s take a look at what happened from the moment He was declared innocent and the mighty Power of God raised Him from the dead and restored Him as God. Most of the first chapter of Hebrews deals with this, what a wonderful passage. I will but start on it today, we will finish Lord willing next week.
Hebrews 1:1-3 (KJV)
1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
God sent many (“the prophets”) over the 4000 years before the birth of Christ to speak to “the fathers”. As in the accounts Jesus related in His ministry, they treated the prophets shamefully and finally they killed the son.
Matthew 21:35-38 (KJV)
35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.
37 But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.
38 But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.
Notice in Hebrews 1:2 that Jesus is heir of all. We also know we are sons, adopted (same as first born) of the Father.
Romans 8:16-17 (KJV)
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
A joint-heir is a participant in common with others, that is Jesus and our brothers and sisters in Christ. This inheritance is not finite, not limited in any way, and equally available to all the children. Wow, wow, what a deal, when will we believe it and step into the fulness of our inheritance for the glory of God and the expansion of the Kingdom in the earth?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as your Bible Teacher and a Prophetic Voice in your life I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
