TRADITIONS, LIES, and TRUTH – PART THREE
Saturday – February 2, 2019, Sh’vat 27, 5779
Greetings my precious brothers and sisters and welcome back to this powerful Bible Study which seeks to root out every planting that is not of the Lord. So far, I don’t think you have needed the steel toes boots or fire extinguishers but don’t put them away. Also, please put away the pitchforks and torches. We are all after the same thing, the overwhelming victories for the Kingdom that Christ Jesus paid for at Calvary. You and I are not the only ones that need this Word right from the Throne of Heaven, the Living Voice is speaking to His people. Today I will continue to lay more foundation for these teachings bringing into our thoughts, our knowledge, the need for these teachings, and the need for us to have a change of mind.
2 Corinthians 10:5 (KJV)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
In order to cast ideas down we must first identify them as wrong, as contrary to the Word of God, no matter how long we have heard them and no matter who said them planting them deeply in our belief system. It is our obligation to find and root these wrong ideas, beliefs, out by faith, in love, led of the Spirit of God and replace them with the Truth. Many of you hear or read me saying that we must be Bereans. We must study and be diligent with the Word of God. God is not going to do it for us and the Pastor or other ministry leader cannot do it for us.
Acts 17:10-12 (KJV)
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.
You will notice that the Apostle Paul and Silas were just run out of Thessalonica and have come to Berea (both in modern day Greece). The folks at Berea received the Word they taught and preached with “all readiness of mind” and then went home and searched the Scripture to see how what they preached fit into the full counsel of Scripture. We likewise should search for the other witness to what we have heard or read. Anything we believe should be supported by a minimum of two Scriptures in context and consistent with the character, and the original intent of God by two different human authors. As I complete todays teaching, I am bringing a passage before you that the Lord has had before me for well over ten years. Herding cats is a long, tedious, patience challenging process.
Jeremiah 23:1-4 (KJV)
1 Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.
2 Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.
3 And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.
4 And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.
Anyone who has any experience with agriculture or animal husbandry knows that several factors are necessary to bring forth a good product. In plants it is important to have a good seed, good ground, adequate water, and good fertilizer coupled with weed control. Now think about this on a spiritual level with the seed being the Word of God, the good ground being our mind, the water being Scripture that nourishes the seed sown, the fertilizer being more Scripture that nourishes and promotes growth, and the weed control being the casting away or down of perverse ideas contrary to the Word of God. If there is corruption anywhere along the way there will be a failed or sick crop. When we talk about animals the same is applicable, the quality of the crop or harvest whether it be wool, calves, eggs, or others depends upon the feed, the life provided for the animal.
So, for a moment back to our Jeremiah text. Notice that the flock is not only scattered as a result of terrible shepherds giving very corrupt feed, but the poor feed also causes the flock to be in real tough shape as evidenced by their fear, confusion, and lack of all kinds. If the feed is changed to the pure Word of God the fear will be changed to love, the confusion will be changed to knowledge with faith, and the lack will be changed to abundance in all areas. Let us examine and determine if we are in a Church led by Pharisees or a Church that is Jesus led. Remember, the Pharisees and Jesus taught from the same Word of God but got dichotomous results.
