WE ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

Welcome to The Three Minute Word publications and Eastern Gate Ministries International. The Lord is good and His praise is to be constantly on our lips. It is Tuesday and time to be reminded to pray for our government at every level. Pray for the protection of our President Trump and Vice-President Pence and for them to possess the Wisdom of God to lead this nation in righteousness. God is so good. We are in for a rough, bumpy, and frustrating ride but we as a nation will be righted and there will be a fullness of the Light of the Righteous One Himself shining forth here and abroad. The heathen rage, be not afraid of their faces.
1 Timothy 2:1-6 (KJV)
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
Now I will return to our Bible Study from the Book of Ephesians.
Ephesians 5:6-10 (KJV)
6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
When Jesus walked the earth He was the light of the world but now He is in Heaven and we are the light of the world. The Word of God is the Light, God is light.
John 9:5 (KJV)
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
Matthew 5:13-14 (KJV)
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
As we move along I want it to be very clear that there is a distinction between the earth and the world. The earth is this physical globe upon which we walk. The world is the systems and things that are built upon the earth. These systems or pillars of the world were established by God but with sin are perverted by the devil, by darkness. The lost, unsaved, are in and of the world, you and I are in but not of the world. We bring the light into the world, God’s thoughts, God’s Words, and God’s ways.

105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
1 John 1:5-6 (KJV)
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
We are in fellowship with the one with whom we walk which is to say the one with whom we share the same thoughts, ways of speaking, and ways of doing. When we think, talk, and act like the world we are in fellowship with darkness, the world. When we think, talk, and act like our Heavenly Father we are in fellowship with light (The Word), the Kingdom of God. Notice that 1 John 1:6 sounds a lot like what the Apostle Paul is warning about from our text in the fourth and fifth chapters of Ephesians. We cannot walk with Him and walk with darkness and do the works of darkness. The following verses tell us about the outcome of walking as children of light.
Ephesians 5:9-10 (HCSB)
9 for the fruit of the light ⌊results⌋ in all goodness, righteousness, and truth—
10 discerning what is pleasing to the Lord.
Oh, how I want to please you Lord.
