AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

THE LORD OF HOSTS
Greetings precious saints of the only living God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word and our study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. What a rich and wonderful Book. The featured picture today was graciously provided by our good friend Joe Getchell Jr, a man of God. Please take a moment to share these teachings as widely as possible. Share these teachings especially with those who you know to be hungering and thirsting after the Word, the Kingdom, and righteousness (not only right standing but doing things His way, the right way). You might be surprised to know that many in the body of Christ are not hungering and thirsting for Him. They see any religious activity as a ritual, a tradition, an inconvenient obligation, and something to be done to avoid Hell. Those hungering and thirsting for Him, who are focused on the spiritual things (Kingdom of God, ways of God) have life and peace. Those who are hungering and thirsting after the carnal or natural things of life, giving the flesh preeminence, will have death in their lives.
Romans 8:6 (KJV)
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
The word minded in this verse has to do with focus. The right order in our lives, in our thinking, makes all the difference in our lives and in the lives of those around us. Notice the order in the following verse. I hope you don’t think this to be a verse in isolation, the whole of Scripture teaches us this principle, this spiritual law.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
There you have it, from the mouth of our Lord Himself. Now let’s turn our attention to the Bible Book of Isaiah and read our primary text aloud, yes, out loud. Faith comes by hearing, not seeing. Everywhere we turn in Scripture there are lessons to guide our lives. These lessons are to guide our thoughts, our words, and our ways. Little by little we are being guided to be more and more like Him.
Isaiah 1:7-9 (KJV)
7 Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
8 And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.
9 Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.
God’s remnant to the rescue! Just as we find down through the Old Testament, in the time of Jesus and His disciples, and even now there is a “very small remnant” arising. Very small in comparison to the Church at large. God has always had a remnant to turn His people back to God. Notice I used the term “His people”. The people of God go in cycles from righteousness with the attendant benefits of Kingdom living to unrighteousness with the attendant detriments of the curse, the kingdom of darkness. How does this happen. There is a shift from the spiritual to the carnal due to the lusts of the flesh, lusts of the eye, and the pride of life. Just what got Adam and Eve in trouble and just what has gotten all of us in trouble from time to time.
Who is the Lord of Hosts? In short, the Lord of Hosts is the one we now call Christ Jesus, the second person of the co-equal Triune God. We find this term all down through the Old Testament Books. We find Him again in the Book of Revelation.
Revelation 19:11-16 (KJV)
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
This is unmistakably our Lord and Savior! Our Lord, our King, our High Priest, our God is the Lord of Hosts. Back to Isaiah 1:9. There is a remnant arising today in America, and around the world. America has become as Sodom and Gomorrah. The question is this; will we have the same fate as Sodom and Gomorrah. The fate of Sodom and Gomorrah is not the will of God for us nor was it His will for them, but their hard hearts with the failure to repent demanded judgment and justice. Will this small rising remnant arise soon enough to show the goodness of God and bring a nation to repentance?

20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
