ASHAMED AND CONFOUNDED

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this powerful teaching of the Bible Book of Isaiah. As we move forward, please take a moment to share this and all of these teachings as widely as possible to spread the very best news that has ever been heard, is being heard, or will ever be heard. Today is my birthday, where does the time go. The featured picture today was taken about 1957, I am in the front row second from the right (hands up under my chin) and this was a birthday party for me. Yesterday I talked some about the connection between the “Fruit of the spirit” and the accounts or parables of the talents and pounds.
Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Of course, the Spirit (Holy Spirit) has these same attributes or fruit but the fruit being referred to here is the fruit or potential to produce fruit from our spirit man. Remember, our spirit man originated with God when He breathed of Himself into Adam (Genesis 2:7). Our spirit and thus the capacity of these fruit to function at anything but a carnal level was not possible before salvation. However, with salvation, the quickening of our spirit man these were also quickened and can function with development on a supernatural level just like our Father. Fruit is something produced which did not exist previously. For example, in the natural an apple tree produces apples which did not exist before every season. Our spiritual productivity depends on many factors.
The potential to produce an abundant crop of apples is present in the tree when there is not an apple in sight. With the proper nourishment a harvest comes forth. Our spirit has supernatural potential, the same potential as our Father, as Jesus, as the Holy Spirit. These spiritual organs exist to produce supernatural levels of all nine fruits of our spirit. These fruits are to define our lives, that is, be a distinguishing marker (fruit) for all to observe and partake in. Our capacity for love, peace, joy, and so on far exceeds that of any that are not born again. The exercise, the development, of these fruits of the spirit has the potential to impact all those around us in a very positive way. They will want what we have! What did Jesus say about bearing fruit and not bearing fruit?
John 15:5-6 (KJV)
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
Failing to develop the fruit of our spirit is just like the man who hide his talent or pound. The Lord was not pleased and the outcome of his life was awful. I tell you I want to hear this.
Matthew 25:23 (KJV)
23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
And, not this.
Matthew 25:26 (KJV)
26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
Or.
Luke 19:27 (KJV)
27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
These all sound an awful lot like our Isaiah text. What do you say we get about abiding in Jesus (in the Word, living the Word) and be serious about bearing fruit for the Kingdom of God?
Isaiah 1:28-31 (KJV)
28 And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.
29 For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.
30 For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.
31 And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.
Do we see the common thread here in what the Lord was showing me and our study of the Book of Isaiah? As we think, meditate upon the Isaiah text above let’s ask ourselves who are the “they” in verse twenty-nine. It is those who have not been fruitful, those who were transgressors, sinners, and forsook the ways of the Lord. I believe this is one of the reasons the Lord will have to wipe away every tear. We will be overcome when we see how far short we came of the wonderful plan He had for each of us. Let us determine today not to be one of those who comes short and is ashamed.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
