ARMOR OF GOD – PART FORTY-THREE
Greetings to all of the friends and partners of Eastern Gate Ministries International, Inc. and followers of The Three Minute Word blog. God bless each and every one of you in Jesus’ name. Welcome back to this study of “Gifts”, gifts from God, currently focused on The Armor of God. Please take a moment to share these teachings as widely as possible to get the good news into the hands of as many as will receive, believe, doubt it not, and implement the Truth in their lives. Thank you for sharing. The Holy Spirit, I believe has led me to build a firm foundation upon which to learn about the armor of God. For maximal benefit from anything it is important to know as much as possible about the thing. People shout about the armor and all the while the enemy is pummeling them. Where is the disconnect? Hopefully as we proceed forward and reflect on what we have already covered each of us will see the openings (the disconnect) in our armor and close them. Understand God will not make you do anything and the devils cannot make you do anything. God enters our lives by invitation only and the devils can enter only by our invitation. We chose to allow the Blessing or the curse into our lives. The devil(s) are defeated, and we are redeemed from the curse but we must enforce the victory and resist the curse moment to moment some days. That invitation, the allowing, is commonly ignorance, the practice of the traditions of men, and the doctrines of demons.
Ecclesiastes 10:8 (KJV)
8 He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.
If you are getting bit (stealing, killing, and destroying in your life) search and find where you have broken down the hedge. Yes, we break down our own hedges, God will not, and the devil cannot. I know the Church is not hot on taking responsibility but man up and do what Scripture demands.
Today we are entering the sixth chapter of Ephesians, the chapter in which the armor is listed. We have discussed many things that are crucial to the optimal and maximal operation of the armor of God but as you realize are also essential in every aspect of our daily Christian walk. These are all laid out in chapter five. When we review verses three through five let’s not just automatically assume these things have nothing to do with us. The Kingdom of God has a very distinct culture entirely different from the world, the kingdom of darkness. Now let’s review our primary Bible text for today, continuing to read aloud, yes, out loud.
Ephesians 6:1-4 (KJV)
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Obeying and honoring are separate and different aspects of our relationship with our parents and dependent upon age, independence. To obey is to do as told without argument or negotiation. To honor is to highly value. An immature child at home is to obey and honor. A child no longer at home and independent must honor but is not required of God to obey the parent. Look at this text in the Amplified Bible.
Ephesians 6:1-3 (AMP)
1 CHILDREN, OBEY your parents in the Lord [as His representatives], for this is just and right.
2 Honor (esteem and value as precious) your father and your mother—this is the first commandment with a promise—
3 That all may be well with you and that you may live long on the earth.
The bottom line is that for the armor of God to be fully functional for the born-again child dependent and living at home, or born-again adult who is independent not living at home, they must be conformed to this Scripture. When we obey our parents and/or honor our parents God promises that things will be well with us and we will live long. This is independent of any other activity in our lives. This is something our Heavenly Father puts a great premium on. Our God, our Heavenly Father craves, seeks after, demands obedience and honor. When we obey and honor Him (His Son, and the Holy Spirit) things will go well with us and we will live long (and productively) upon the earth. Disrespecting our natural parents is disrespecting the Heavenly Father. Not a good place to be dear ones. So, we see, this applies to our natural parents, spiritual parents, and our Heavenly Father (family).

20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
