AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

VETERANS DAY – MAYFLOWER COMPACT – GO TELL THE PEOPLE
Greetings dear and wonderful children of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog. Today is a little different since it is an important National Holiday which coincides with in my view a far more important day. Please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible to bring the good news farther than we can reach alone. The featured picture is of Donna and me at a recent Church event.
Today is Veterans Day, a day for us to remember and honor all who are serving or have ever served in the United States Armed forces. Memorial Day on the other hand honors those who not only served but died in that service. I salute all who have served honorably in our armed forces and I with hopefully all of our readers thank you with a grateful heart for your service. Coinciding with this day is the signing of The Mayflower Compact on November 11, 1620. This is one of many documents putting us, America, in Covenant with God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The following is the text however I left off the 41 signers for the sake of space. This is as written at the time so blame the various apparent misspellings on them.
THE MAYFLOWER COMPACT – NOVEMBER 11, 1620
In the name of God, Amen. We, whose names are underwritten, the loyal subjects of our dread Sovereigne Lord, King James, by the grace of God, of Great Britaine, France and Ireland king, defender of the faith, etc. having undertaken, for the glory of God, and advancement of the Christian faith, and honour of our king and country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the
Northerne parts of Virginia, doe by these presents solemnly and mutually in the presence of God and one of another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civill body politick, for our better ordering and preservation, and furtherance of the ends aforesaid; and by virtue hereof to enacte, constitute, and
frame such just and equall laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions and offices, from time to time, as shall be thought most meete and convenient for the generall good of the Colonie unto which we promise all due submission and obedience. In witness whereof we have hereunder subscribed our names at Cape-Codd the 11. of November, in the year of the raigne of our sovereign lord, King James, of England, France and Ireland, the eighteenth, and of
Scotland the fiftie-fourth. Anno Dom. 1620.
This nation was undertaken to show the goodness of God (the glory of God) and for the “advancement of the Christian faith”. Dear ones there is nothing so good as a Covenant with the one and only Almighty God. Now, let’s refocus and turn our attention to our text in Isaiah continuing to read aloud.
Isaiah 6:8-11 (KJV)
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,
Immediately the response from the Counsel of Heaven came to Isaiah. As we pick up with verse nine let us consider if this could be the case today. Remember God is talking to His people not people who are not His, people who say they serve another. I am sure you are aware that a person, perhaps one or more of us, can confess they are serving the Lord but their words and actions clearly indicate they are serving another god or are perhaps polytheistic. Many Christians walk in deep darkness, deceptions of the devils, and are unaware. We must be ever vigilant and ask the Lord to shine His light on only darkness. However, when we do this, we must be very ready to abandon our most sacred cows. Sacred cows are things we believe are true, the Truth, but are in fact lies of the devils.
I recently heard a speaker say an interesting thing. They said that they have a passion for the lost (unsaved) but they have a more intense passion for the dead. The dead are those who are saved and sit in a seat at Church Sunday after Sunday but are bearing no fruit and show no enthusiasm. As you think on these things glance back at the Isaiah text. As I thought upon this it occurred to me that I too am concerned or have a passion for the lost and the dead. However, even more so for those who appear alive, exhibit enthusiasm, bearing little to no fruit, due to the deceptions of the enemy. People can be very sincere, vocal, and physically energetic at Church but due to deceptions of the enemy bear little or no fruit. As I close for today and this week take a look at verse eleven above in the context of the condition of our nation today.

20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
