A WELL OF TRUTH
MORE ABOUT TALENTS AND POUNDS

Greetings to our precious friends and partners in the gospel and welcome back to “A Well of Truth”. Before I move forward, please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible to expand our reach with the very best news anyone, anywhere, at any time can ever receive. The good news is that there is a God, and He loves each and every one of us saved or not. He has a wonderful plan for every person ever born or to be born. All other plans have destruction in their end. He has provided a Savior, a Savior from the wrath to come and Hell. When we believe in our heart and declare with our mouth by faith, that He is Lord and Savior we are quickened to eternal life (resurrected) and translated from this present darkness into His marvelous light by His Grace. We are then seated with Him, in Him, at the right hand of the Father. I beg you, be reconciled to God now, move from your current state of enmity with God to being His friend.
Now, let’s move to our study for today. This study is in many ways related to our recent study of the best use of time or redeeming the time. I will continue to talk briefly about the accounts of the talents and pounds. Today the pounds. Many spiritualize this with no consideration of the natural component, it is both. All of us are unique, having been given certain talents and gifts in the natural and in the spirit. What are we doing with them?
Luke 19:12-13 (KJV)
12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
The nobleman is Christ Jesus and the far country is Heaven. The servants are you and me, all who have professed Jesus as Lord and Savior. However, as we saw last week, simply professing Jesus as Lord and Savior and then doing nothing is not the road to Heaven. We see this clearly in the accounts of the ten virgins, the talents, and will see again today in the account of the pounds. Notice the phrase “Occupy till I come”? This means to do business till I come both in the natural and in the spiritual. Each of the ten were given one pound. Remember this represents spiritual assets as well as natural assets.
Luke 19:14 (KJV)
14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
I believe in this particular verse it is referring specifically to the established Church in the day of His Ministry in the earth (the religious ruling Jews). The nobleman will have a time of accounting. Nine of the ten did business (used what they were given in the natural and the spiritual) and had a profit and the response of the nobleman was the same to all nine.
Luke 19:16-17 (KJV)
16 Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
Faithfulness in the little results in being given much greater responsibility. We can be trusted. You recall where the Scripture says that we are to rule and reign with Him? Well, we see right here that we will have responsibilities in that to come based on our faithfulness in the here and now. So, in this account what happened to the one who hide the pound (physical talents and gifts and spiritual gifts) and those who declared He was not to reign over them.
Luke 19:20-27 (KJV)
20 And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:
21 For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.
22 And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
23 Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?
24 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
25 (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.
27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
This person who hides the pound in the napkin lost the little that was given to do business for the Kingdom. It appears this person entered Heaven, just barely, with nothing.
1 Corinthians 3:13-15 (KJV)
13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
Those who refused the nobleman altogether were slain (went into Hell). We saw here again that fear played a major role in the person who was as well equipped for success as the others in their failure. Fear brought failure, fear is of the demons, Power, love (agape), and a disciplined mind are of God. Are any of us allowing fear to cause us to be unproductive in the Kingdom of God, and in our natural lives?
Lord willing, I will continue with a fresh Word from the Well of Truth.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
