ARMOR OF GOD – PART SIXTY
BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS – PART ONE
Greetings precious brothers and sister in Christ Jesus and welcome back to the Friday teachings on Gifts from God. Currently we are dealing with the “Armor of God”. Before we move forward, please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible expanding our reach with the Word of God our reach by ourselves. Thank you for sharing and I believe the Lord is pleased with your sharing. As you will recall I built a firm foundation beneath our study for the seven elements of the ‘Whole Armor of God’. The bottom line is that we practice a life of holiness, of sanctification, setting ourselves apart for the Kingdom of God. That does not mean we don’t go to work or walk around speaking in King James English but that we keep our thoughts, words, and actions in line with the Word of God. No one can make us sin, God won’t, people can’t, the devil can’t, only we can make the choice to sin. Listen to Apostle James.
James 1:13-16 (KJV)
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
So, who is tempting us, we ourselves! Let us follow after the Spirit.
Romans 8:5-7 (KJV)
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
In this passage, the word ‘minded’ has to do with focus. Don’t focus on the carnal things, the temporal things, but focus on the eternal things. If we think, talk, and act like the world we will get the results of the world. Is that what I want, what you want, or do we want the result of the Kingdom, the results of Heaven? Now, let’s take a look at our text from the Book of Ephesians.
Ephesians 6:12-15 (KJV)
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
The next piece of armor that we are discussing is “the breastplate of righteousness”. The use of the Roman soldier and their combat dress, equipment has some usefulness but remember these are spiritual weapons for offense and defense. Glancing back at verse twelve we are reminded that we wrestle not, fight not, against flesh and blood but spiritual forces (evil principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness, and spiritual wickedness in high places). We must have knowledge of the Kingdom and how it functions. This knowledge is revelation knowledge, Anointed Words, we receive, prove by the Word (rightly dividing), believe (have faith in), doubt not, and act upon as led of the Holy Spirit.
Hosea 4:6 (KJV)
6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
The destruction that comes into our lives is not due to a lack of knowledge (a chronic problem) but our casting aside of His revelatory knowledge. Perhaps we believed it to hard, perhaps it didn’t agree with the Pastor, our denominational statement of faith, or grandma. I will pick up with this Lord willing next Friday.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
