THE LORD HOLDS THEM IN DERISION

Greetings precious children of God and welcome back to this inspiring, empowering, and hope giving study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. As we precede forward, please take a moment to share these teachings as widely as possible to expand our reach with the gospel, the really good news. Thank you for sharing. By sharing you have a powerful role in the dissemination of the Truth. The featured picture today is of Donna and me a few months ago in Porter Texas. Husbands and wives be reminded to pray for one another coming into agreement in all things walking as one.
These are difficult times in our own nation and around the world, let us pray for one another and have a steadfast faith in whom we trust, and in whom our unshakeable hope resides.
Once again let’s take notice of the flow of this eleventh chapter of Isaiah. The first three verses deal with the first coming of Christ. We have covered this in some detail. Currently we are dealing with the next two verses having to do with the Second Coming of Christ and the battle of Armageddon. It would be reasonable to conclude then that verses six through nine have to do with the Millennial Reign (and our reign with Him) of Christ over the whole earth, but do they? Now, let’s go forward reading our primary Bible text from the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 11:4-5 (KJV)
4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
I have spent quite a bit of time and space this week dealing primarily with these verses which involved several rather lengthy passages of Scripture. I know we will be richer for it so do not tire in advancing our knowledge of the Kingdom, the plan, and the will of God. The Battle of Armageddon which we covered in some detail with Scripture yesterday is sometimes described as the final battle of the heathen against God and His people. That is not the case for at the end of the 1000-year reign of Christ in the earth when Satan is loosed, he once again deceives the nations and there is another battle and final battle.
Revelation 20:8-10 (KJV)
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Now let’s turn our attention back to now and the Second Coming of Christ. The following Psalm describes many times in history from the beginning to now.
Psalm 2:1-12 (ESV)
1 Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his Anointed, saying,
3 “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.”
4 He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.
5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying,
6 “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.”
7 I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you.
8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.
9 You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”
10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
The heathen are certainly raging and it is very loud today but they are zero threat to God nor His people in the end. At verses five and six we see the coming of Christ, the Lion of Judah into the earth. The Holy Hill is Jerusalem and Jesus is the King. You will find the same language concerning the Father saying “You are my Son” in the Book of Hebrews when Jesus is resurrected from the dead and restored as God. Then we see in verse eight He is given to reign over the earth and they will do the will, the ways of the Word, of God. God warns the heathen to serve and fear the Lord for His wrath will be quickly kindled (manifested) concerning them. This Psalm ends with the beautiful, wonderful promise of the Blessing for those who take refuge in the Son. Sounds a lot like Psalm 91 in that regard.
Lord willing, I will pick up with verse six and the Millennial (one thousand year) reign of Christ. Remember we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
