FROM THE PROPHETS CHAMBER – WEEK SIXTY-TWO
CHRISTIANS AND TRAGEDY – PART THREE

Greetings precious children of the Most High God and welcome back to “From the Prophets Chamber”. I want to repeat this week, that even when we don’t feel or think we are precious we are indeed precious beyond silver, and gold.
1 Peter 1:18-20 (KJV)
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
The value of something is determined by the price someone is willing to pay. God was willing to pay with His own precious Blood, there is no higher price, for every one of us and He did it with joy. Jesus, God incarnate paid the highest price possible for each one of us individually, He did it willingly, and He did it with joy restoring us as His very own children and heir of all in Christ Jesus. Yes, ALL! Let us not even for a moment think of ourselves as worthless, useless, and a failure! We are Gods’ very own most prized treasure, saints of God. Even our choosing disobedience to God, the Word, does not change our value. Just as when our kids disobey us, they remain a treasure to us even in our disappointment and the process of corrective actions or seeing them suffer as a consequence of their choices. Our natural (and spiritual) children just like us are freewill beings for better or for worse. As I prepare to move into our primary topic think upon the following Scripture again showing our value.
1 Peter 2:9 (NLT)
9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests,a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
Do you suppose the Lord God Almighty is in the habit of paying for anything that He does not consider of very high, the highest value? Do we have any record in Scripture of God paying for anything other than our redemption? I don’t think so. Get your head up and your shoulders back, you are royalty, a priest before God, a child of the Almighty God, a partaker of His very own divinity. Dear one, it doesn’t get any better than this! Now let’s turn our attention to our primary topic of “Christians and Tragedy”. Sudden tragedy seems to be more perplexing to Christians than tragedy in slow motion (disease). We hear how they really loved the Lord, they were such good people, and were wonderful Christians. That is judging on the outward appearance (1 Samuel 16:7). The devil is the one who comes only to steal, kill, and destroy and Jesus is the One who comes only to give life (now and forever) in abundance (John 10:10). I hope I have established that it is never (means never) the will of God for any part of the curse to occur in our lives. Let’s continue with Jesus’ teaching from Luke telling us exactly why bad things happen to good people and not to others.
Luke 13:6-9 (KJV)
6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
Jesus had already spoken of those who were killed by Pilate with their sacrifices at the temple and those upon whom the Tower of Siloam fell. This is what He said in both cases.
Luke 13:4-5 (KJV)
4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
In Luke 13:6-9 we see the wonderful fruit of the intercessor, a preserved life for a season. As priests before God this is a viral role we have for our families and friends. Sin is what gives place to the curse which includes horrible tragedies.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Saturday.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
