PRAISE THE LORD

Greetings dear saints of God and welcome back to our Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. God is so good to give us His Word so that we can know how the Kingdom of God operates and we as citizens and family know our obligations and privileges. As I move forward, please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to increase our reach with the gospel, the good news, the Truth. Thank you for sharing! You are an important, irreplaceable part of this Ministry. The beautiful picture again today shows the waning days of winter in Maine and was provided by our good friend and man of God, Joe Getchell Jr. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and continue reading out loud. If you are new to The Three Minute Word, let me explain why it is important to read Scripture (especially) aloud. According to Romans 10:17 faith comes by hearing the Word of God, and it is impossible to please God without faith according to Hebrews 11:6. Now, to our Bible text reading aloud with ears to hear.
Isaiah 12:1-6 (KJV)
1 And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.
2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
4 And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.
5 Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.
6 Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.
Let’s pick up with verse four today. First let’s look at the word ‘name’ which means to be in a conspicuous position of honor, and authority according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. The word ‘exalted’ means to be lofty, inaccessible, being safe, strong, excellent, set up (on high), and being too strong according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. As you all know (hopefully) Jesus has a name above all names.
Psalm 138:1-2 (KJV)
1 I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.
2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
The word ‘gods’ in verse one is Elohim (lower case), same word for the triune God (upper case). The gods are us. If everything God creates produces after its own kind and we were produced by the very breath of God, what would we be? Now I want us to pay particular attention to verse two and the phrase “for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.” Who is the ‘word’? We are told in John 1:14 that Jesus is the Word who became flesh. Jesus and the written/spoken Word of God are inseparable. It seems that the Word, Jesus, the Christ, is the name above all the names, the persons of God. Consider the following.
Ephesians 1:21 (KJV)
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
This verse is talking about Christ who is “far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named”. This is above all the persons of God and angelic beings be they holy or fallen, all other beings and created things be they of the blessing or the curse. And guess where we are in Christ Jesus! Every knee now and forever bows to the name of Jesus.
Romans 14:11 (KJV)
11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV)
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
