WITH JOY

Greetings dear saints of God and welcome back to our Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. God is so good to give us His Word so that we can know how the Kingdom of God operates and we as citizens and family know our obligations and privileges. As I move forward, please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to increase our reach with the gospel, the good news, the Truth. Thank you for sharing! You are an important part of this Ministry. The beautiful picture today shows the waning days of winter in Maine and was provided by our good friend and man of God, Joe Getchell Jr. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and continue reading out loud. If you are new to The Three Minute Word let me, explain why it is important to read Scripture (especially) aloud. According to Romans 10:17 faith comes by hearing the Word of God, and it is impossible to please God without faith according to Hebrews 11:6. Now, to our Bible text.
Isaiah 12:1-6 (KJV)
1 And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.
2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
4 And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.
5 Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.
6 Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.
We may have questions in our mind about the timing of this chapter. If we look back into chapter eleven, we saw that a “ensign for the nations” has come and there will be a regathering of Israel, those of Jewish blood. The “ensign” of course is the Christ, Jesus. I would then conclude that we are talking the end of the Great Tribulation and continuing through the Millennial age (reign of Christ). If you don’t agree with that, I won’t have a breakdown (smile). The Lord goes on in verses one and two of Chapter twelve to describe what the state of their (the Jews) will be in that day, the day when they recognize and declare Jesus as Messiah and Lord.
Now, I move to verse three. We like these saints are to draw water with joy from the wells of our salvation. The Jews do not have a different salvation from the gentiles, it is all through the finished work of Jesus the Christ. The water here is the Anointed Word of God which transforms and cleanses us. The King James Version uses the word ‘wells’ however the more correct translation would be springs. A well can be quite finite but wells offer a continuous flow. Our God is not finite, the Word of God is not finite, but is without end. Several translations use the word ‘springs’ in place of wells as in the following Complete Jewish Bible translation.
Isaiah 12:3 (CJB)
3 Then you will joyfully draw water from the springs of salvation.
Let’s think for a few moments about joy. This word transliterated from the Hebrew to English is śāśôn meaning cheerfulness, gladness, joy, mirth, and rejoicing according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Do we see this joy in our own lives as we think about, talk about, and hear about our salvation? If not let us with all sincerity of heart cry out as did the Psalmist David of old.
Psalm 51:12 (KJV)
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
As I close let’s take a look at this Hebrew word translated salvation in English to see why we have an unending joy, an unending salvation. In Jesus we have deliverance from all that is not of the Kingdom of God which is all stealing, killing, and destruction, we have aid for every situation, victory is ours in Christ, prosperity of all kinds is ours in Christ, not just healing but health is ours in Christ, we are safe in Him (the evil one cannot touch us), and we have One (Christ) who is able to succor (ideally suited to come along side us) us according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
