I WILL PUNISH EVIL

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this engaging Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. Before I move forward, please take a moment to share this teaching as widely as possible expanding our reach with the Truth. Thank you for sharing. Those of you who share are a vital part of this Ministry and the proclamation of the gospel. The featured picture today is of an Arabian (one hump) camel reminding us it is Wednesday, known by some as hump day.
Before we turn our attention to our primary Bible text let me ask you a question. Does prayer change things? I suspect your immediate response was a resounding, yes! How do you define praying? What does that word mean and what does that activity look like? If one’s definition of prayer is to decree, declare, or command the will of God in faith, doubting not, in love, and led of the Holy Spirit then the answer is, yes. If one’s definition of prayer is to beg and/or ask God to do His will then the answer is, no. Did Jesus even once ask or beg the Father to do something or did He speak (decree, declare, command) to the problem with full confidence the Father would back Him up. And, no, that wasn’t because He was Jesus! Closely study Mark 11:23-24). He commanded us to do the same works and even greater works (John 14:12). Balls in our court.
Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and continue reading out loud. You have been reading out loud, right?
Isaiah 13:11-15 (KJV)
11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.
13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.
14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.
15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.
As I have pointed out many times, the Lord is not talking to the heathen, He is talking to those who name Him as their God. He is talking to you and me dear ones. There is a whole rancid theology that has been developed to explain troubles that persist in the lives of the people of God. Jesus did not come for us to have stealing, killing, and destroying in our lives but that we have a life like He had in the earth, a life like days of Heaven upon the earth (Deuteronomy 11:21), abundant life (John 10:10). Turning aside to other words (other than those of God) and serving other gods is the source of the curse in our lives (Deuteronomy 28:14).
As we can see from our text there is coming a time when God is going to clean up this mess (sin and curse, sin and death). There have been minor (in the context of the final judgment) judgments like when the children of Israel fell by the sword and were taken into bondage. However, a far greater judgment is at the door. These judgments of old were awful to be sure and the one coming is even more terrible. The cost of rejecting the Son of God is enormous and the benefits of accepting the Son of God are enormous as well. God will have a family and that family is to fare scrumptiously in the earth and forever. I know this kind of talk makes many Christians squeamish due to the long history of poverty of every kind teachings. God has provided everything for His children in the earth and forevermore. The judgment of God due to willful persistent disobedience and our opening and giving place to our spiritual foes is unnecessary. We too easily turn aside to other words and other gods due to the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. This pursuit is death. We must walk after the Spirit 24/7 testing all things. Where is our faith in God, in His Word, where is our love (selfless motivations), where is our sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, and where is our relentless pursuit of the Word of God? Look at the next few verses in our primary text, I want nothing to do with any of this.
Isaiah 13:16-18 (KJV)
16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.
17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.
18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.
Do we really want this in our lives, our community, our State, or our nation?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
