AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

THE MESSAGE THAT CAME TO ME
Greetings dear friends and partners of The Three Minute Word blog and Eastern Gate Ministries International Inc. Also, welcome back to these powerful teachings from the Book of Isaiah. God is so good to open His thoughts and His ways to us that we can walk with Him on the good path He has prepared for each of us.
Jeremiah 29:11 (CJB)
11 For I know what plans I have in mind for you,’ says Adonai, ‘plans for well-being, not for bad things; so that you can have hope and a future.
Amos 3:3 (KJV)
3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
Why in the world do we think we have a better path for our life than the One who loved us enough to die for us? The One who has purchased us from Hell (eternal death and torment) into eternal life. The One who has given us the Kingdom of God which does not have even one bad thing in it.
The featured picture today represents the Prophet Isaiah. Before I move forward with today’s study, please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible expanding our reach with this good news. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in Isaiah and continue reading out loud. You are reading out loud, right? You know why!
Isaiah 14:28-32 (TLB)
28 This is the message that came to me the year King Ahaz died:
29 Don’t rejoice, Philistines, that the king who smote you is dead. That rod is broken, yes; but his son will be a greater scourge to you than his father ever was! From the snake will be born an adder, a fiery serpent to destroy you!
30 I will shepherd the poor of my people; they shall graze in my pasture! The needy shall lie down in peace. But as for you—I will wipe you out with famine and the sword.
31 Weep, Philistine cities—you are doomed. All your nation is doomed. For a perfectly trained army is coming down from the north against you.
32 What then shall we tell the reporters? Tell them that the Lord has founded Jerusalem and is determined that the poor of his people will find a refuge within her walls.
All who have studied Scripture know that the Philistines have been a thorn in Israel’s flesh from the beginning. Judgment is coming to them and they will no longer harass Israel at least for an extended season. The ancient Philistines lived primarily in the area now referred to as the Garza Strip in southwestern Israel. This area now harbors Hamas, a terror group, a proxy of Iran (home of the ancient Persians). This group constantly harass Israel with all types of terror attacks. In our text we see that the judgment of God is coming upon this people and Gods’ people shall not be terrorized or held in bondage by the Philistines any longer. God has founded Jerusalem as the place for His name, a place of refuge for the peoples of old and since the cross a symbol of the Church triumphant, a place of refuge in Christ Jesus. The Philistines like all oppressive groups are a type of our spiritual enemies. Now, let’s move into chapter fifteen which tells of the destruction to come to Edom. I will present the whole chapter.
Isaiah 15:1-9 (KJV)
1 The burden of Moab. Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence; because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence;
2 He is gone up to Bajith, and to Dibon, the high places, to weep: Moab shall howl over Nebo, and over Medeba: on all their heads shall be baldness, and every beard cut off.
3 In their streets they shall gird themselves with sackcloth: on the tops of their houses, and in their streets, every one shall howl, weeping abundantly.
4 And Heshbon shall cry, and Elealeh: their voice shall be heard even unto Jahaz: therefore the armed soldiers of Moab shall cry out; his life shall be grievous unto him.
5 My heart shall cry out for Moab; his fugitives shall flee unto Zoar, an heifer of three years old: for by the mounting up of Luhith with weeping shall they go it up; for in the way of Horonaim they shall raise up a cry of destruction.
6 For the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate: for the hay is withered away, the grass faileth, there is no green thing.
7 Therefore the abundance they have gotten, and that which they have laid up, shall they carry away to the brook of the willows.
8 For the cry is gone round about the borders of Moab; the howling thereof unto Eglaim, and the howling thereof unto Beerelim.
9 For the waters of Dimon shall be full of blood: for I will bring more upon Dimon, lions upon him that escapeth of Moab, and upon the remnant of the land.
The Moabites are a heathen people who worship idols. They arose from an incestuous relationship between Lot (Abraham’s nephew) and Lots’ oldest daughter after they fled Sodom and Gomorrah.
Genesis 19:36-38 (KJV)
36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.
37 And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.
38 And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.
Go back and read Numbers chapters 22, 23, 24 and you will find the account of Barak and Balaam and Moab wanting the Israelites cursed. Well, the curse has come back upon them.
Psalm 109:17 (KJV)
17 As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow, moving into Isaiah chapter sixteen.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
