SEND YE THE LAMB

Greetings dear and precious friends and partners of this Ministry and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog today focused on the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah. What a powerful Book with lots of insights into the coming Messiah and the ways of God. We will be continuing to talk about Moab (a nation in this ancient time) which now is the country of Jordan. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to expand our reach with the gospel of the Kingdom of God, the Truth. The featured picture today represents the Prophet Isaiah. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the sixteenth chapter of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 16:1-5 (KJV)
1 Send ye the lamb to the ruler of the land from Sela to the wilderness, unto the mount of the daughter of Zion.
2 For it shall be, that, as a wandering bird cast out of the nest, so the daughters of Moab shall be at the fords of Arnon.
3 Take counsel, execute judgment; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts; bewray not him that wandereth.
4 Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a covert to them from the face of the spoiler: for the extortioner is at an end, the spoiler ceaseth, the oppressors are consumed out of the land.
5 And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.
In the preceding chapter we discussed the judgment to be carried out concerning Moab (see verse fourteen). I want to remind us all that anywhere along this process repentance fixes everything. God has explained to Israel, as He does for all of us, what our sin is, lets us see the consequences ahead of time, and give us a space for repentance. There is no breaking of the laws of God and walking away without consequences whether in this life or the next. However, His mercy and compassion upon us is ever present.
Lamentations 3:22 (KJV)
22 It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
The central theme of this passage is that in a time to come (Great Tribulation) Moab will be a safe sanctuary for Israel. First let’s talk about a couple of things of interest concerning Moab and how God may have a soft spot if I may put it that way. Let’s start with Ruth (see the Book of Ruth) who is a Moabitess.
Ruth 1:4 (KJV)
4 And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years.
One of Naomi’s sons married a Moabite, Ruth, and he was a Jew (Hebrew). That son died and Ruth accompanied Naomi back to Israel.
Ruth 1:22 (KJV)
22 So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Bethlehem in the beginning of barley harvest.
Over a process of time a kinsmen redeemer (another whole teaching) married Ruth.
Ruth 4:13 (KJV)
13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.
This son (Obed) is King David’s grandfather.
Matthew 1:5-6 (AMP)
5 Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse,
6 Jesse the father of King David, King David the father of Solomon, whose mother had been the wife of Uriah,
Ruth a Moabite, a Gentile, is in the line of Jesus. You perhaps noted that Rahab the harlot is also in the line of Jesus. And you thought you had a colorful family line.
Luke 3:32 (KJV)
32 Which was the son of Jesse, which was the son of Obed, which was the son of Booz, which was the son of Salmon, which was the son of Naasson,
Booz is the same as Boaz the Kinsman Redeemer (husband) of Ruth. Jesus is our Kinsman Redeemer, the Church, those outside of the Covenant of Promise. Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
