GIFTS – PART ONE HUNDRED-THIRTY-TWO
ARMOR OF GOD – PART SEVENTY-FOUR
HELMET OF SALVATION – PART TWO

Greeting dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog titled “Gifts”. We are currently focused on the “Armor of God”. Each time I write this greeting I want to put “Good morning”. Although it appears that most of you read this blog in the mornings some are reading it later in the day. This blog literally goes around the world so some people are reading it at various times of the day and night thus the generic greeting with regard to time. Please take a moment as we move forward to share this teaching, by all means possible, as widely as possible to expand the reach of the Truth. Thank you so much for sharing. Those who share these teachings are a vital partner of this ministry. God, our God, through Jesus Christ, is so very, very good.
As you know I spent many months laying a foundation for this study of the Armor of God rather than jumping right into it. In order for us to utilize the armor of God effectively we must not only understand what this armor is but how to use the armor (offensive and defensive weapons) effectively but under what circumstances, spiritually, the armor functions. Making a long story short, all sin must be out of our lives, we must be in unwavering faith, motivated by love (agape), and led of the Holy Spirit. All of this is possible but requires a focus on the Kingdom of God and on His way of thinking, speaking, and doing lifestyle. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud. You are reading out loud, right? You know why (Romans 10:17, Hebrews 11:6).
Ephesians 6:10-12 (KJV)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Notice the command to “be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might”. The word ‘power’ here is the Greek word transliterated as kratos according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary meaning resurrection power. This is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and restored Him as God. The word ‘might’ has to do with ability, His ability. We are not strong in and of ourselves but only in the Lord and then His resurrection power can flow in us, His abilities flow in us. There is no limit to His ability and His Power. When will we grow up into Him? With knowledge of spiritual realities which are called the armor of God we can stand against the wiles of the devil otherwise we are fresh meat for him. Remember, he comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. Also, we must never forget that people are not our enemies they are not our problem, the dark forces behind them are our enemies. We battle these spiritual enemies with a far superior hand and are designed to win, hands down, every battle. Now, let’s move into verse seventeen.
Ephesians 6:17 (KJV)
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
First, a little review from last week’s publication on Biblical numerology concerning Ephesians 6:17. The number seventeen (17) is the number of victory, and six (6) is the number of man. Ephesians is the tenth book of the New Testament. Ten is the Bible number for responsibility. We (man) have victory in the exercise of our responsibilities. In this case understanding and utilizing the helmet of salvation. As I close for this week, let’s look at the word, the idea, the reality of salvation.
The word transliterated from the Greek to English as salvation in our text is sōtērion according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. I think you will find it illuminating to look at the synonyms and antonyms for salvation. First the synonyms: ransom, redemption, and deliverance. Now, the antonyms: destruction, loss, ruin, destruction, judgment, condemnation, and corruption according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – New Testament. None of these things found under the antonyms is a part of our futures (those born again or from above).
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
