MOAB A COVERT FOR ISRAEL

Greetings dear and precious friends and partners of this Ministry and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog today focused on the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah. What a powerful Book with lots of insights into the coming Messiah and the ways of God. We will be continuing to talk about Moab (a nation in this ancient time) which now is the country of Jordan. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to expand our reach with the gospel of the Kingdom of God, the Truth. The featured picture today is of Donna and me at Church. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the sixteenth chapter of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 16:1-5 (KJV)
1 Send ye the lamb to the ruler of the land from Sela to the wilderness, unto the mount of the daughter of Zion.
2 For it shall be, that, as a wandering bird cast out of the nest, so the daughters of Moab shall be at the fords of Arnon.
3 Take counsel, execute judgment; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts; bewray not him that wandereth.
4 Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a covert to them from the face of the spoiler: for the extortioner is at an end, the spoiler ceaseth, the oppressors are consumed out of the land.
5 And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.
In the preceding chapter we discussed the judgment to be carried out concerning Moab (see verse fourteen). I want to remind us all that anywhere along this process repentance fixes everything. God has explained to Israel, as He does for all of us, what our sin is, lets us see the consequences ahead of time, and give us a space for repentance. There is no breaking of the laws of God and walking away without consequences whether in this life or the next. However, His mercy and compassion upon us is ever present.
Lamentations 3:22 (KJV)
22 It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
Yesterday I discussed how Ruth a citizen of Moab is in the lineage of Christ as is Rahab (the harlot) both gentiles and one with perhaps a colorful history. Before I move forward let’s look at the word ‘covert’ in Isaiah 16:4. The spoiler, the oppressor is the antichrist. The word ‘covert’ is a secret place, a covering, a place of protection. Many have thought that this place is Petra in Jordan. The central theme of this Isaiah passage above is that in a time to come (Great Tribulation) Moab will be a safe sanctuary for Israel.
Revelation 12:5-6 (KJV)
5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
The “man child” brought forth (born) is none other than Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior. When He returns on the Great Day of Atonement, He (Christ) will establish His Kingdom and rule for 1000 years with “a rod of iron”. This is foretold.
Psalm 2:9 (KJV)
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.
This is the Father speaking to the Son about the Second Coming and the great battle of Armageddon. Continuing with the Revelation 12 reference, the man child (Christ) is in Heaven but He is coming back. We then see that the woman, bride of Christ in the earth from the Tribulation, flees to Moab for 42 months, three- and one-half years. This is the time commonly referred to as the Great Tribulation. The antichrist will make a seven year treaty with Israel but break it in the middle (surprise, surprise).
Daniel 9:27 (KJV)
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
The Third Temple will be in place in Jerusalem and the Jews will once again have sacrifice. The antichrist breaks covenant after three- and one-half years and desecrates the Temple.
Daniel 12:11 (KJV)
11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
Our primary Bible passage (Isaiah 16:5) ends talking about the throne of Jesus being established in Jerusalem. O what a day!
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember, we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
