THE LORD MAKETH THE EARTH EMPTY

Greetings dear and precious children of God and welcome back to this Bible Study of the wonderful Book of Isaiah. The beautiful picture today is provided by our friend and woman of God, Kathy French. Thank you so much Kathy for this beautiful photo. As we prepare to move forward, please take a moment to share this teaching by every available means at your disposal. Thank you so much for sharing. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud. You know why!
Isaiah 24:1-5 (NLT)
1 Look! The LORD is about to destroy the earth and make it a vast wasteland. He devastates the surface of the earth and scatters the people.
2 Priests and laypeople, servants and masters, maids and mistresses, buyers and sellers, lenders and borrowers,
bankers and debtors—none will be spared.
3 The earth will be completely emptied and looted. The LORD has spoken!
4 The earth mourns and dries up, and the land wastes away and withers. Even the greatest people on earth waste away.
5 The earth suffers for the sins of its people, for they have twisted God’s instructions, violated his laws, and broken his everlasting covenant.
As I read this passage, I wondered when was this time? Also notice this is devastation coming upon the earth itself due to the sins of the inhabitants. It is a time of devastation upon the earth. I don’t know that we have seen this scenario in Scripture or in my limited knowledge of history over the last 6000 years. Could this be the result of a nuclear war in a time to come? Finally in verse five we see it is explicitly stated that “The earth suffers for the sins of its people”. These were a rebellious people twisting God’s instructions, violating His spiritual laws, and breaking the everlasting Blood Covenant. These are God’s people who say they love Him and serve Him yet they are not. Have we examined our ways to be sure we have not twisted God’s instructions, violated His laws, and broken our Blood Covenant? Have we been good Berean’s (Acts 17:11)?
Isaiah 24:5-10 (NLT)
5 The earth suffers for the sins of its people, for they have twisted God’s instructions, violated his laws, and broken his everlasting covenant.
6 Therefore, a curse consumes the earth. Its people must pay the price for their sin. They are destroyed by fire, and only a few are left alive.
7 The grapevines waste away, and there is no new wine. All the merrymakers sigh and mourn.
8 The cheerful sound of tambourines is stilled; the happy cries of celebration are heard no more. The melodious chords of the harp are silent.
9 Gone are the joys of wine and song; alcoholic drink turns bitter in the mouth.
10 The city writhes in chaos; every home is locked to keep out intruders.
Could this be in the time of the Great Tribulation? We see faint echoes, shadows of this now in American cities. As you know, at the Second Coming of Jesus (not the Catching Away) there is a great battle called Armageddon. Could this time Isaiah is talking about as the voice of God in the earth be the same as what Zechariah prophesied?
Zechariah 14:12-17 (NLT)
12 And the LORD will send a plague on all the nations that fought against Jerusalem. Their people will become like walking corpses, their flesh rotting away. Their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.
13 On that day they will be terrified, stricken by the LORD with great panic. They will fight their neighbors hand to hand.
14 Judah, too, will be fighting at Jerusalem. The wealth of all the neighboring nations will be captured—great quantities of gold and silver and fine clothing.
15 This same plague will strike the horses, mules, camels, donkeys, and all the other animals in the enemy camps.
16 In the end, the enemies of Jerusalem who survive the plague will go up to Jerusalem each year to worship the King, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, and to celebrate the Festival of Shelters.
17 Any nation in the world that refuses to come to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, will have no rain.
This is but a part of what happens to the nations which fought against Jerusalem after their armies were obliterated as they surrounded Jerusalem. From the mouth of our Lord will come a sharp sword at His return and us with Him annihilating their armies (Revelation 19:15). As I finish for today, I want to draw your attention to verse seventeen above. Notice that anyone, in this case a nation, who refuses to worship (submit to) the King, who is Jesus, will have no rain in their land. We can see this in both the natural and spiritual. In the natural there will be no physical rain with famine following. In the spiritual there will be no Anointed Word going forth with the signs and wonders following. Do you suppose we today can take a lesson from this? If there is no rain, famine in our Church, in our land, in our individual lives, have we failed to truly worship? We may be doing something we call worship but are we worshipping according to Scripture?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
