GIFTS – PART ONE HUNDRED-THIRTY-NINE
ARMOR OF GOD – PART EIGHTY-ONE
SWORD OF THE SPIRIT – PART SIX

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and thank you for rejoining The Three Minute Word blog. Please take a moment and share this teachings by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. As you know I have been teaching of the “Gifts” of God for some one hundred and thirty-nine weeks counting today and eighty-one weeks counting today on the “Armor of God”. As I said on the 1st of July, I thought I was done with the sword of the Spirit but the Lord let me know I was not done. Since the “sword of the Spirit” is the Word of God, which is the whole Bible, I suppose one could go for a lifetime and not exhaust the topic. So, let’s take a moment and review our primary Bible text. By the way, there is no maximum on the number of times one should read any portion of Scripture. There is always more for the Holy Spirit to reveal to the ones with ears to hear. Be reminded to be reading out loud with ears to hear. You know why! Without faith we cannot be an overcomer (1 John 5:4) and it is impossible to please God without faith (Hebrews 11:6).
Ephesians 6:10-18 (KJV)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Just when I thought I was done, at least for now, with this part of the armor (sword of the Spirit) the Lord gave me a list of Scriptures to bring forward including again reminding people that the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God is a two-edged sword. First let me remind us all that the Word of God is the reliable way to set the demons to flight, fleeing in terror. Jesus gave us a wonderful example.
Luke 4:1-2 (KJV)
1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
Jesus had just come from the river Jordan and being water baptized by John the Baptist and receiving His Ministry Anointing. Immediately He is taken (led) into the wilderness and into temptation. Jesus must pass the test that Adam (and Eve) failed to pass in the beginning. And I might point out, so don’t we. There are three points, the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life (Genesis 3:6, 1 John 2:16). Let’s look at the first temptation.
Luke 4:3-4 (KJV)
3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
Does the devil ever try to get you to doubt who you are? You see the devil will tempt you to do what seems to be a good thing but we must always be aware of who is leading. If it is the devil, it is for our destruction and we have just made him our god turning aside to his words. Jesus combated this temptation with the Word of God, the sword of the Spirit, in spite of His natural hunger. What was next?
Luke 4:5-8 (KJV)
5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Again, out came the sword of the Spirit! Has the devil ever showed you a quick and easy way to a need, an answer? We must be very discerning as to who is presenting the answer. Is it brought to us by the Lord God or our spiritual enemies? This brings us to the third temptation.
Luke 4:9-13 (KJV)
9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:
10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
Again, the sword of the Spirit came out. The devils will quote you Scripture, be discerning. Again, who is leading, God or demons? We must be constantly on guard. We must guard against tempting the Lord which is an exhibition of pride. Who is leading me today, who is leading you today? When we determine it is not God, are we answering with the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
