CHECK THE FOUNDATION

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to our Bible Study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. The Lord, our God is so very good. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you to widen the reach of the gospel (good news) which is that the Kingdom of God has come unto us. The picture of the beautiful scene I believe in Idaho came from a friend, a man of God, Rev. Randy Lindsey. Let us not think that we, the Church, today is in a different place than ancient Israel. The Church is in the dark ages and simultaneously at the cusp of dawn (darkest just before the dawn), the greatest revival, awakening, ever experienced on this planet. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 28:16-19 (TLB)
16 But the Lord God says, “See, I am placing a Foundation Stone in Zion—a firm, tested, precious Cornerstone that is safe to build on. He who believes need never run away again.
17 I will take the line and plummet of justice to check the foundation wall you built; it looks so fine, but it is so weak a storm of hail will knock it down! The enemy will come like a flood and sweep it away, and you will be drowned.
18 I will cancel your agreement of compromise with Death and the devil, so when the terrible enemy floods in, you will be trampled into the ground.
19 Again and again that flood will come and carry you off, until at last the unmixed horror of the truth of my warnings will finally dawn on you.”
Monday, I taught on the plummet of justice. Today I am transitioning to “check the foundation”. What is my foundation, what is yours? Let’s take a look at a fairly lengthy passage spoken by the Master, it’s in red, do we believe it, will we implement (put into action) it? I will intersperse comments between the verses for us to consider.
Luke 6:43-49 (KJV)
43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
So, am I a corrupt tree or a good tree. Is my fruit found under the blessing or the curse (Deuteronomy 28)?
44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
Am I a good man or an evil man. Anything contrary to the Word no matter how small we may view it is evil. What we have in abundance in our thought life is what is coming from our mouths and producing fruit, forming our world, our life.
46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Let’s take a look at the word “Lord” in the preceding verse. This is the Greek word transliterated to English as kyrios meaning the one supreme in authority, or a controller according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. This authority and controller is not speaking of one make us do something but one who tells us how to conduct ourselves and we choose. Have we chosen well? Jesus said we are calling Him Lord and all the while ignoring Him.
47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
We probably all think this is us, but is it?
48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
Am I, are you, upon this rock foundation, is our house solid and unshaken or has the curse taken root in our lives, our house?
49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
We all have an obligation to on purpose not only hear the Words of God but to do them without exception. This is not a buffet where we pick what we like the sound of and ignore the rest. The Word of God, Jesus, is the only sure unshakeable foundation.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
