AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH
Thursday – October 6, 2022, Tishrei 11, 5783
SO WEAK
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to our Bible Study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. The Lord, our God is so very good. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you to widen the reach of the gospel (good news) which is that the Kingdom of God has come unto us. The featured picture today was taken May 25, 2019, a beautiful bride and handsome groom whom the Lord has blessed. Shifting gears, a little, let us not think that we, the Church, today is in a different place than the ancient Israel we have been studying. Human nature, the call of the flesh, and the deceptions of our demonic enemies have not changed. The Church is in the dark ages and simultaneously at the cusp of dawn (darkest just before the dawn), the greatest revival, awakening, ever experienced on this planet. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 28:16-19 (TLB)
16 But the Lord God says, “See, I am placing a Foundation Stone in Zion—a firm, tested, precious Cornerstone that is safe to build on. He who believes need never run away again.
17 I will take the line and plummet of justice to check the foundation wall you built; it looks so fine, but it is so weak a storm of hail will knock it down! The enemy will come like a flood and sweep it away, and you will be drowned.
18 I will cancel your agreement of compromise with Death and the devil, so when the terrible enemy floods in, you will be trampled into the ground.
19 Again and again that flood will come and carry you off, until at last the unmixed horror of the truth of my warnings will finally dawn on you.”
Once again Israel, we could put body of Christ in there, is in a bad spot due to turning away from God and putting their trust in man and not wholly in God. In midst of this telling of their sin and the justice that must follow we have repeatedly seen the promise of the Messiah to come, who has now come. They like us have turned repeatedly to the arm of flesh and not to God. How have we turned to flesh? Compromise with the curse (have you ever heard yourself saying “I can live with that”), turning to medicine first, turning to loans, and so on rather than turning to God and asking Him to direct our path. We have an obligation to be strong, unmovable, in the Kingdom of God (which is what Jesus taught nonstop by the way). Let’s glean a little more from a Scripture I presented yesterday.
Luke 6:47-49 (KJV)
47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
As you know, I hope you know, faith comes by hearing. When we come to Christ, we are to hear His sayings and we are to do them, not just hear them. When we do, we are in obedience and our house will withstand the most ferocious storms. If we don’t, we and our house (other people) are headed for disaster, bondage, or worse. As I started to write this the Lord reminded me of His Armor which is available to us but not automatic just because we said “I do”.
Ephesians 6:10-13 (KJV)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
At salvation we are “in the Lord” but we are not necessarily “strong in the Lord”. When we are strong in Him, His Power, His might is part and parcel of that strength. To be strong in the Lord has to do with unwavering faith in God (His Word), powered by love (agape), led of the Holy Spirit. It is our obligation, our responsibility to learn what the armor is and to put it on, that is our part. The Blessing, the Power and might, of God flow in our lives personally and to others in direct proportion to our faith in the armor. We are not in hand-to-hand combat with people but with demonic powers. We are assured that when we have on the whole armor of God, we will in fact stand in the evil day. Not only will we stand we will be victorious, walk-in triumph, be more than a conqueror. Harkening back to our text, let us not be so weak that we get knocked down by the storms brought by our demonic enemies.
