A WELL OF TRUTH
COMMUNION – PART THREE

Greetings favored sons and daughters of the Father and welcome back to A Well of Truth and the third installment of our study of the Communion Table. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing, the Lord bless and keep you now and forever. When I started this study you will recall our first glimpse of the Communion Table, our redemption from sin and its terrible effects, started in the Garden of Eden on the very Day of Sin and Death. We briefly reviewed how the Communion Table was codified in the Book of Leviticus chapters 23 and 16 (much more detailed). The much clearer prophetic type and shadow comes to us in the Exodus account where we find the protection of the lambs’ blood on the doorposts and the complete consumption of that lamb by the household. The following verse is a picture not only of the effects of the sacrifice and redemption of the children of Israel from Egypt (Satan’s’ bondage) but ours as well in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 105:37 (KJV)
37 He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.
Now, let’s fast forward to Jesus and His disciples in the Upper Room. Here we see The Passover Lamb, the Lamb of God who would take away the sins of the world and the awful effects for those who believe.
Luke 22:7 (KJV)
7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.
Luke 22:19-20 (KJV)
19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
This brings us to the account by the Apostle Paul and a very important part of my presenting this study, verse 30 below. The number thirty represents the Blood of Christ, and not treating it with the very highest regard brings sickness and death.
1 Corinthians 11:23-31 (KJV)
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
His body was broken so that our need not be, it also gives Him the right to heal and transform at the Rapture into a glorified body like unto His. Likewise, life, eternal life, is in the blood making our spirit His. By that purchase and our subsequent surrender to Him, He obtained the right to convey eternal life and adopt us back, graft us back, into the family of God. I now want to focus on the word “unworthily” in the above passage. I hope you see with me that the Communion Table should only be taken with purity of heart and with the utmost reverence. This word ‘unworthily’ from the dictionary means in a shameful or disgraceful fashion. This same word in the Greek means to partake irreverently, in an unbecoming manner treating the Lord’s Supper as a common meal without attributing to it and its elements their proper value according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – New Testament. The Lord’s Supper or the Communion Table is anything but common. Lord, please forgive us for being careless in observing your sacrifice, the only thing that could redeem us from sin and the curse, restoring us to the family of God eternally.
Lord willing, I will have another fresh Word from the Throne next week.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
