FROM THE PROPHETS CHAMBER – WEEK NINETY-FIVE
GOSSIP

Greetings dear and precious friends, partners, saints of God and welcome back to “From the Prophets Chamber” this week touching on gossip. I can feel the enthusiasm building, smile. Last week I touched on this and will go just a little further, I think this will be a brief teaching. We don’t repeat anything we don’t know first hand or anything that our Heavenly Father does not remember, period. Do we repeat others sins, failures, to tear them down and build ourselves up? Is that love (agape)?
1 Peter 4:8 (AMP)
8 Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others].
When repented of and forgiven by God we have no business with other peoples’ sins especially disclosing them to others. God is never going to reveal your forgiven sins to another, never! Let’s take a look at the definition of the word ‘gossip’ in the Noah Webster 1828 Dictionary. Gossip, one who runs from house to house, tattling and telling news; an idle tattler. It also means idle talk, more on that in a moment. Gossiping, prating; a running about to collect tales and tattle. Prating is chattering, babbling, and jabbering. The Noah Webster 1828 Dictionary further defines a prater as one that talks much to little purpose, or on trifling subjects. Will we receive the following advice?
Proverbs 10:19 (AMP)
19 In a multitude of words transgression is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is prudent.
Listen to what Jesus had to say about idle words.
Matthew 12:36 (KJV)
36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Words are meant, from the creation, for building, for creating.
According to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – New Testament this word ‘idle’ means not at work, idle, not employed, inactive, with the idea that they chose to be idle, the idea of indolent, slothful in Christian duty, insincere, false, unprofitable or a person who speaks one thing and means another. Is that me or you? Don’t be too quick to answer, let’s examine ourselves with the help of the Holy Spirit and make the needed adjustments.
1 Timothy 3:10-12 (AMP)
10 And let them also be tried and investigated and proved first; then, if they turn out to be above reproach, let them serve [as deacons].
11 [The] women likewise must be worthy of respect and serious, not gossipers, but temperate and self-controlled, [thoroughly] trustworthy in all things.
12 Let deacons be the husbands of but one wife, and let them manage [their] children and their own households well.
The KJV uses the word ‘slanderers” in place of ‘gossipers’ meaning to be a traducer, a false accuser according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. A traducer is one who derives or deduces calling it fact or truth. There is way too much talking going on. Today we don’t have to run from house to house but we have many technologies to communicate with one another. Our job in the Kingdom of God is to love (agape) people and build them up anyway we can.
Matthew 22:36-40 (KJV)
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 (AMP)
11 Therefore encourage (admonish, exhort) one another and edify (strengthen and build up) one another, just as you are doing.
So let carefully examine all of our speech and determine if it reflects love (agape) and does it build the person up.
Lord willing, I will return next week with fresh insights, revelation from the Throne.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
