Thursday – September 7, 2023, Elul 21, 5784
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to our wonderful Bible Study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Isn’t the Lord just so good to give us abundant light. Have we chosen the light, His Light, or are we following after the lusts of our flesh? Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. At this time let’s refocus on our study for today in the Bible Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 45:5-8 (KJV)
5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.
7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
8 Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it.
The Lord continues to coax His people then and now back to Him. One might exclaim “but Dr. Wood I’m a Christian” and that is all good but are you with Him? Many get saved, call Jesus Savior but do not call Him Lord meaning the one of highest authority in their life. Do I, do you, want to enter the promises of God or continue to live a natural, carnal, worldly life? The LORD goes on to tell them that I prepared you for anything and everything that might come against you even before you knew anything about Me. Look around shouts the Lord, you will see me everywhere. And again, He says: “I am the LORD, and there is none else”. This is familiar theme that the Lord repeats over and over down through Scripture pointing people to the creation and the obvious truth that a very powerful orderly being was the source. That powerful orderly being would be none other than God.
Romans 1:19 – 20 (NLT)
19 They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them.
20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
Back to our text and verse seven.
Isaiah 45:7 (KJV)
7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Here it appears that God is the creator of darkness and evil, that is to say darkness and evil were created to be darkness and evil. Now, does this sound like the character of the God you and I serve? Consider the following question. Did God create Lucifer to be evil? No! Of course not! Lucifer chose to sin and sin brought his destruction, and when man sinned the curse was loosed on mankind and the whole the earth. None of this was by the will of God. All wickedness has come about by the will and sin of the created angels and the will and sin of man. The tense of the verb create in our text is in the passive tense meaning God allowed these things to develop, be created. To be created means it did not exist before. Never be confused, nothing evil is ever the will of God.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember, we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
