Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to our wonderful Bible Study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Isn’t the Lord just so good to give us abundant light. Have we chosen the light, His Light, or are we following after the lusts of our flesh? Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. The featured picture today is from the spring when the river was at flood stage and provided by Joe Getchell Jr. a faithful man of God. Thank you so much Joe for the beautiful pictures. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text today continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 45:5-8 (KJV)
5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.
7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
8 Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it.
The phrase “I am the LORD” occurs 164 times in Scripture and 12 times in the Book of Isaiah. Just for interest that phrase occurs 45 times in the Book of Leviticus. This phrase does not occur in the New Testament. The Hebrew word transliterated to English is yhwh (yud hay vah hay) meaning self-Existent or Eternal according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Although the exact derivation of the name is uncertain, most scholars agree that its primary meaning should be understood in the context of God’s existence, namely, that He is the “I AM THAT I AM” (Ex. 3:14), the One who was, who is, and who always will be according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – Old Testament. The Lord is frequently reminding them, I am the only real God, all others are fake completely impotent. Let’s take a look at the fifth and sixth verses in the New Living Translation.
Isaiah 45:5-6 (NLT)
5 I am the LORD; there is no other God. I have equipped you for battle, though you don’t even know me,
6 so all the world from east to west will know there is no other God. I am the LORD, and there is no other.
Dear ones we are a woefully ignorant, willful, and prideful people, all traits of Satan and don’t even know it. Humility my friends is a huge key in walking with the Lord. In spite of our rebellion God is over the top compassionate and merciful providing us with all we will ever need both here and in the hereafter. Many don’t even know there are battles to be fought and others are continually focused on warfare. Dear ones the battle has been fought on our behalf and the enemy is thoroughly defeated. We have total authority over our evil enemies and as we stay totally submitted to God and resist his temptations, he has no choice other than to flee.
James 4:7-10 (NLT)
7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.
9 Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy.
10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.
No need for drawn out battles. Frequent battles, yes. You may have heard people tell you they have been fighting the devil all day or all night or all week. They don’t know who they are. Will he bring temptations day and night and all week, yes sir, yes ma’am. We answer each one with the Word of God in the name of Jesus and keep at our God assigned post. The key here is to have humbled ourselves before the Lord. This means we are 100% submitted to the thoughts, the Words, and the ways of God all the time.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
