GOOD WORKS – PART ONE
Thursday – March 15, 2018 – Adar 28, 5778

Is our faith growing? Whose responsibility is it to grow our faith? No, God is not in control, He is not in control of our faith. We choose to have faith or unbelief. Commonly what happens is that what we know is a contamination of Scripture and therefore is not faith at all in God or the Word of God but a perversion of the Truth, called the traditions of men and the doctrines of demons. With that admonition let us dive with our full attention into our primary text in Hebrews for this wonderful Bible Study. If you are accessing this teaching on Facebook and it is of value to you, I encourage you to share these teachings with your friends and encourage them to get them daily as you do. Hebrews 10:23-25 (KJV)
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Our Scripture text in verse twenty-four (priesthood) tells us to provoke or encourage ourselves and others to love and to good works. This is mainly a function of our priesthood. We are kings and priests and those are the main two spheres we operate in just like Jesus (in the earth and now in Heaven). What about these “good works”? Let’s contemplate the following verse.
Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
We are new creations or creatures in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17). The main thing that is new is that we are in Christ Jesus. Adam did not have that safety net and was therefore subject to the law of sin and immediate spiritual death with physical death to follow. We are not subject to the law of sin and death, which is not to say we can sin freely without consequence. A main purpose for us in the earth is good works. Our secondary text above tells us that “God hath before ordained” for us to do. Well, when was that? As you have likely already guessed let’s go back to the beginning.
Genesis 1:26-28 (KJV)
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Genesis 2:15-17 (KJV)
15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
In the beginning man was given authority over the earth (and first heaven) and he was given the power (Blessing) to back up that authority. Right from the get go God tells us, I (God) am not in control, you are a freewill creation, you are in control whether that be for good or evil. God then gave mankind seven mandates or good works which are eternal commands. These are to be fruitful, to multiply, to replenish the earth, to subdue the earth, to take care of what is in our hand, to guard what is in our hand, and to not mix the knowledge of good and evil. That is not to say we are not to know about evil and recognize evil, it means we are not to eat of or partake in evil. Remember, on Monday we talked extensively about being of two minds and how devastating that can be in our lives. There is a common idea and practice that we do some stuff for or like God on Sunday and time to time and the rest of our time is like the world. I will talk tomorrow, Lord willing, about the good works that have been prepared for us.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
