EVEN MORE LOVE AND GOOD WORKS
Wednesday – March 14, 2018 – Adar 27, 5778

It is time once again to delve into our faith building Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews. God is so good to give us His Word and give us the Holy Spirit as our primary Teacher. Now, let us read aloud our primary text.
Hebrews 10:23-25 (KJV)
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
For several days now, we have focused on verse twenty-four and that we are to provoke one another is love and good works. I have focused on Godly love, Bible love, not worldly love. When one thinks about it, good works flow from love. Bible love is not a feeling or an emotional response. And, it certainly is not something we feign to get something, that is worldly love, and manipulation which is the sin of witchcraft. Bible love, which God is, and we are, is obedience to the Word of God, genuine selfless behavior, and adherence to our Blood Covenant (discharging our responsibilities and receiving the benefits). I recently did a Sunday series on Blood Covenant, which you can look up and study in the Archives on WordPress. Before I move on to “good works” let me remind us that love is one of the fruit of the spirit. It is one of the fruit of the Holy Spirit and it is a fruit of our spirit. We have the spiritual DNA of God so we are as He is. Our development of love or any other fruit may be puny in comparison but we are on a journey to perfection or maturity. Let’s read aloud the following Truth.
Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
We, people, are referred to at times in Scripture as a tree. Let us consider for example an apple tree. The fruit of an apple tree is apples. The tree itself is not the fruit but the tree provides the substrate or construct from which apples can be produced. Our spirit man has the same DNA as God, our spirit man is indistinguishable from God in elemental composition. God is not made of nothing and neither is our spirit man. To continue our example, the apple tree itself is of very little use however the fruit is of great use. If we are unfruitful we are of little to no use to the Kingdom of God and Jesus spoke of this on more than one occasion. The fruit produced from the Spirit of God is no different than the fruit produced from our spirit. It is the fruit that is useful to another person or ministers to the other person. We are to provoke or encourage ourselves and others to be obedient to the Word of God, to be selfless, and to observe the Blood Covenant. In so doing we become more and more like Jesus, like our Heavenly Father, and we will produce spiritual fruit abundantly and bring real spiritual and physical blessings (empowerment) into other people’s lives and our own. Before I leave this topic, we must understand that if we are not producing fruit of our born again spirit we are producing fruit which is of the flesh, doing the devils work.
Galatians 5:19-21 (KJV)
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
One last comment I would like to put forward about Bible love before we more forward in our Bible text is that what is commonly called love is really another fruit of the spirit. What is wrongly being called love (agape) is really patience, gentleness, goodness, humility, or self-control on display. Gods’ love and our love is obedience to the Blood Covenant, obedience to the Word of God, and selflessness. Lord willing tomorrow I will move forward into “good works” and perhaps beyond.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
