WE ARE COME UNTO MOUNT SION
Friday – July 20, 2018, Av 8, 5778

Greetings partners, friends, and the curious and welcome back to this wonderful faith building Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews. God is so wonderful to give us His Word telling us exactly how to have the very best life possible in this fallen world. He created all and He knows exactly what will make it tick like a clock. In a nutshell we must believe the Word of God, act in love, and be led of the Spirit of God. We are a people with extraordinary potential in Christ Jesus. What is ours in the Word of God and what the body of Christ is experiencing as a whole are worlds apart. Why one might ask? We are not taught from the womb the infallibility of the Word of God and that it is of value beyond any natural wealth of any dimension. This Word of God is the way of salvation, extravagant abundance in this life and the next, with eternal life. Awake, arise, and triumph Church of the living God. Put your name in there. Awake, arise, and triumph David Wood (put in your name) in Jesus name! We must awake and repent of our wickedness. We must arise casting down all of the false gods and words that we have elevated above the living God. Then and only then can we walk in the fulness of our salvation. My picture today features Adam and Eve the buffalo we were blessed to have on our ranch in Texas for several years. Some of you reading this experienced these buffalo up close and personal. Now let’s review our primary text from the Book of Hebrews reading it aloud to get it in our eyes, in our ears, and in our mouth.
Hebrews 12:19-22 (KJV)
19 And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:
20 (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:
21 And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)
22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
This scene is somewhat like unto what we find in Isaiah the sixth chapter. The presence of God will either drive people to repentance or to flee. Both choices belong to the individual. The Holy Spirit (God) wants all persons to come to salvation, He does not want a single person to flee. He has a wonderful life planned and an easy plan to get it done. In our rebellion and microcosm of knowledge we think we have a better way. Oh, what a foolish people. We see this all the time in people who will not go to Church and or avoid Christian people.
Isaiah 6:5 (KJV)
5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
Isaiah on that day saw the Christ, “the LORD of hosts” that day before He was a man, the Messiah in the earth. The hot coal that cleansed Isaiah was the Holy Spirit when he recognized his condition and the need for cleansing. Those people in the Sinai realized that they were an unclean and wicked people and they cried out for the voice (the conviction) to stop.
This brings us to verse twenty-two and a different mountain under different circumstances. Twenty-two is the number of light, spiritual light most importantly. This verse is speaking to the us, the Church (the ecclesia or ekklesia), the body of Christ. At the point of salvation, we are come to this Heavenly Mount Sion (Zion) the Heavenly Jerusalem and we are seated at the right hand of the Father in Christ Jesus. Being seated in Heaven is not a someday thing it is a today thing from the moment of salvation. We are now from Heaven on a mission, Ambassadors for God, in the earth. At the time we shed this mortal body (physical death) we will return to Heaven our home, the place of our citizenship, the place of our family that is gone before us. It will be like going home at the end of a day’s work. If we are born again we are even now, our spirit man, seated in Christ Jesus in Heaven. Yes, our spirit man is resident within this physical body in union with the quickening Holy Spirit and simultaneously seated in Heaven. We are in two places at once. Most translations of the Bible have ‘you have come’ rather than the King James Version of “ye are come” which leaves the tense a little nebulous. However, the Greek is past tense. We need to be more mindful that we are sitting on the same Throne as Jesus far above all at the right hand of the Father and have that prospective concerning all things in the earth. Meditate on this wonderful Truth and rejoice for we are not at the whim of the evil spirits and circumstance, we are the masters of the earth, all named things in the earth, and circumstances.
Until our next publication, I speak this Scriptural prayer for your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Ephesians 1:16-17 (KJV)
16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
