IS AN ANGELIC FAR AWAY LOOK LOVE

Welcome to the twelfth installment of my teachings from my book “Awake, Arise, and Triumph – Be Love”. I strongly encourage you to get the book. It is not a once and done book but one on which to meditate. I am not encouraging you to meditate so much on my words and insights as the Scriptures God, love Himself, has given for our instruction. No doubt you hear much about love in Church and in conversations with others but seldom if ever hear what love is being talked about. In these teaching I am laser focused on Divine love (agapē /agapaō). We hear that God loves us. Let me ask you, how does He love us? I will be talking about that soon. How do we love God. Many times, when people are speaking or singing of their love for God, we see them get this angelic look on their face and a faraway look. Is that what love (agapē/ agapaō) of God is?
Obedience to the Word brings us to a fulness of joy, the joy of the Lord as it is written is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Realigning with the Word of God is what they did in Nehemiah chapter eight bringing joy to the Lord and this allowed His Strength to flow again in their bodies and in their lives. That joy of the Lord is a calm delight because we know who our God is, we know our covenant, and we know who we are in Him. Jesus literally laid down his physical life for all mankind. We are not called to lay down our physical lives, but He is calling for us to lay down our agenda and take up His agenda. This is otherwise known as taking up our cross.
When Jesus came into the earth, He had a two-fold goal, one was to show us the way, and the other was to go to the cross destroying the works of the devil. Likewise, we are to do as He did and greater (John 14:12) works fulfilling the missions He gives us. We are to occupy until our race is run and we go Home or He comes and picks us up.
When our love is mature, we are dead to self just as Jesus was dead to self in His earthly ministry and to this day. This does not mean that we do not get to do anything fun; it means that we get to do the things that are the most fun. God is the maker, and we are the made and he knows exactly what delights us the most. As we are obedient to Him, the blessing manifests in our lives and not the curse. Remember, Jesus said that the thief (the devil and his minions) come only to steal, kill and destroy, BUT I have come that you have life more abundantly until it overflows (authors paraphrase of John 10:10).
Galatians 2:20 (KJV)
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Let me point out that the word Christ in Scripture is not Jesus’ last name but is the Greek word for Messiah, Anointed One, and/or His Anointing. So the preceding Scripture could be paraphrased; “I am crucified with the Anointed One (Messiah): nevertheless I live; yet not I, but the Anointing (the Holy Spirit) liveth in me: and the life (the life of God) which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God (I have the same confidence in God that Jesus had), who loved me (manifested the Scripture for my benefit), and gave himself for me (just as we are to give ourselves for Him). Let us consider the following.
Hebrews 9:17 (KJV)
17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
Jesus died physically and when we come to Him, we must put our flesh to death and walk after the Spirit in order for the Covenant to fully function in our lives. Failure to do this may explain much. My Blood Covenant with my Heavenly Father in Christ Jesus through the help of the Holy Spirit demands that I love God and people, and that I be selfless. God is committed and faithful to the Blood Covenant and I must do the same. This Blood Covenant with God is available to all and we step into it at salvation. It was sealed by two men, Abraham and Jesus for all mankind. We are dead to self (selfless), cognizant of the Blood Covenant, and diligent to obey the Word of God.
TAKE HOME:
- How do we love God. Many times, when people are speaking or singing of their love for God, we see them get this angelic look on their face and a faraway look. Is that what love (agapē/ agapaō) of God is?
- Jesus literally laid down his physical life for all mankind. We are not called to lay down our physical lives, but He is calling for us to lay down our agenda and take up His agenda. This is otherwise known as taking up our cross.
- Jesus died to put the will of God in place and rose again to probate that will. Likewise we die to self to partake of the will of God.
Lord willing, I will resume right here next week. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
