Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. One cannot study this Bible Book or for that matter much of the Bible without coming away with the knowledge that man has a freewill and makes decisions to his detriment or benefit. It all started right at the get go.
Genesis 1:26 (NIV)
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” (Bold added)
God will not control our decisions and the devil cannot. Please take a moment and share this, and all, teachings as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. These teachings are going all over the world dear ones, be a part of that. We have readers in eastern Europe, western Africa, Central America, and throughout the United States. The featured picture today is of Donna and me at Viola’s a great Mexican Restaurant here in San Antonio.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the wonderful Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 51:1-5 (NIV)
1 “Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the LORD: Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn;
2 look to Abraham, your father, and to Sarah, who gave you birth. When I called him he was but one, and I blessed him and made him many.
3 The LORD will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; he will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing.
4 “Listen to me, my people; hear me, my nation: The law will go out from me; my justice will become a light to the nations.
5 My righteousness draws near speedily, my salvation is on the way, and my arm will bring justice to the nations. The islands will look to me and wait in hope for my arm.
The Lord is pleading with His people to listen and to hear. Listening and hearing are two separate functions. How many of us have sat through Church and couldn’t tell anyone about the sermon on the way to the car? Perhaps at other times we have left energized with new insights. Is the first true more often than the second? I now want to draw our attention to verse four and the phrase “The Law” in our NIV text which is “a law” in the KJV. This is not referring to a new law or a single law, the word translated law in English is a feminine noun meaning instruction, direction, law, Torah, the whole Law. This noun comes from the verb yārāh <H3384>, which has, as one of its major meanings, to teach, to instruct according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – Old Testament. The Torah is the first five Books of the Bible, Books of Moses, also referred to as the Pentateuch. Notice the noun is feminine in gender meaning it will produce when sown. It is sown by saying and doing in faith.
Let’s look at verse four in the New Living Translation.
Isaiah 51:4 (NLT)
4 “Listen to me, my people. Hear me, Israel, for my law will be proclaimed, and my justice will become a light to the nations.
God’s right way of being and doing will be a light, a powerful witness to the world. The world is already doing all sorts of stuff that makes sense to the natural mind initially but does not work for it is not the mind of God. God designed this thing; He knows what works and what don’t.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
