Greetings dear and precious saints of the only Living God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, not the god of Ishmael.

Now, let’s plunge into our primary study of 1st John continuing to read out loud. Yes, out loud, you know why.
1 John 2:5-8 (KJV)
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
I don’t know if you have noticed but this Book is really heavy on love (agapē/agapaō) which is primarily obedience to the Word of God and forgiveness. O the wonderful gift of repentance with forgiveness! Let me be really blunt, we are going no where in the Kingdom of God without a maturing love (agapē/agapaō) walk. Remember faith works by love and it takes faith to please God and move mountains, period.
Galatians 5:6 (KJV)
6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
Let’s look at this in the NIV, it really brings it home.
Galatians 5:6 (NIV)
6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
The only thing that counts. So, how much attention should we give to this?
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Remember love (agapē/agapaō) is obeying/doing the Scripture with a right motive. Then and only then does the Hand of God move. This takes effort and it is beyond, “well this is what I think”. As I close for today, let’s look at the fifth verse of our text in the NLT.
1 John 2:5 (NLT)
5 But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember God is love (agapē/agapaō) and so are we to be.

20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
