A NEW CREATURE – PART FOUR
Sunday – February 9, 2020, Sh’vat 14, 5780
Greetings precious people of God and welcome back to this Sunday series of various topics as the Lord (Holy Spirit) leads me. Today will be the fourth installment of the exciting topic of us being “a new creature” in Christ Jesus. Believe me brothers and sisters this is great news. Let each one of us determine by our will to receive this knowledge by faith making it a part of our thinking, our speaking, and our ways. You see God thinks we are a new creature, and says so, and acts so. Seems to me we would do well to agree with Him and not check with our feelings, the lies of the devil or what we see in ourselves. I hope you are enjoying the featured picture for this brief series which is illustrating that you and me are light in and to a very dark generation. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text reading it aloud.
2 Corinthians 5:17-19 (KJV)
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
Today I want to deal with the word “creature” specifically and bring additional illumination that should just thrill us but might cause the religious folks some heartburn. I think that most born again people would say that they are a new creation but what does that mean? It is important to remember that we are three-part beings (spirit, soul, and body). It might actually be easier to refer to the soul as our mind with a will and emotions. The spirit and soul are both spirit just describing a different portion of the spirit. A side issue that I am not going to spend time with today but I hope you find illuminating and exciting is the body spirit connection. For the believer with an alive spirit in tune with the Holy Spirit (led of the Spirit), and a mind being renewed day by day in faith to the Word of God, the body is very favorably impacted with supernatural health. Like everything else in the Kingdom of God and in the world, one has to know it, believe it, making it a part of their thoughts, words, and actions independent of what we feel, see or hear to the contrary. The Apostle Paul makes reference to our being three-part beings in the following Scripture, and in other places the spirit body connection.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 (KJV)
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 8:6 (KJV)
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
As you examine the words spirit and soul in the Greek you will find that they are both of the spirit realm but the word soul is from the Greek word psychē according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. This is the conscious part, the thinking part of our spirit man and is separate from the physical brain but is where the brain gets its instructions. The spirit part of our spirit man communicates with the spirit realm including the Holy Spirit. I wanted to take a moment to talk about this because any of us who are born again know that we had the same body after salvation we had before salvation. However, the inner man, the spirit man, the real us, was radically changed from death to life and much more as I will discuss.
Now back to the word “creature” in our primary Bible text. First let’s examine the meaning, definition, in the Greek. Creature in the Greek means to be a builder, a creator, an owner, and one who issues authoritative commands or orders. So, let’s not leave this as an abstract idea or definition. What does this mean to us the sons and daughters of the Father, priests and kings in the Kingdom of God? We are builders of the Kingdom of God in whatever capacity we are called, gifted, and talented in. Most of all we are called to build the reputation of the family name, the Kingdom of God, and not bring shame. Shame comes when we refuse to develop our faith, love (agape) and be led of the Spirit of God and walk in defeat after defeat. We are to be the creators in the earth on a supernatural level. The earth and its fulness is ours as the sons and daughters of God. Anything the devil and his crew (unsaved) have is illegal and on an outlaw basis. And as you have heard me say over and over, we are not beggars but kings and we issue commands in the name of Jesus and the Father (by the agency of the Holy Spirit) does the works (just like when Jesus walked the earth).
The following Truths, realities should thrill us all to the core. It turns out that the definition, the ideas behind being a “new creature” are the same as being a son. The definitions of a son in the Hebrew texts includes being a builder of the family name. Sound familiar? How would one do that? By walking in love, actually doing Scripture! Doing the things Jesus did and the greater things (John 14:12). In Hebrew a son is one who repairs and builds again. Does this sound like Isaiah 61? A son is to obtain children for the Kingdom. A son is a maker or one might say a creator. A son is also one who sets-up things, things that are good and accomplish much in our lives and others as well as bring praise to the Kingdom of God. Are we doing these things?
Joshua 18:3 (KJV)
3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?
How long will we, the Church corporately and as individuals be slack in taking possession of and utilizing all that Jesus bought at Calvary, in Hell, in the Resurrection, and on the Day of Pentecost? In summary, we could accurately say in place of the phrase that we are a “new creature” that we are a new son. We are the sons of God, given the authority to accomplish all that we are led of the Holy Spirit to do. We have a freewill which we exercised to make Jesus Lord and we exercise day in and day to do or not do the will of God. When we transition from being a son of the devil to a son of God we have a whole different make up, capabilities, and future.

Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
