A SANCTUARY

Greetings dear and precious saints and those who are fighting against being saints in the Kingdom of God. We love you all and there is nothing you can do about it. Welcome to our ongoing study of the precious Bible Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible to expand our reach with this wonderfully good news of the Kingdom. The beautiful picture featured today was taken by Donna’s sister Lynn at the coast of Maine. Before we dive into the Bible Study, again, I want to bring a couple of things into our thinking.
If you are not already a financial partner with us, I want to take this opportunity to invite you to join with us in our mission, our calling. Perhaps you don’t want to become a monthly partner but want to make a one-time year-end contribution that is welcome as well.
Another issue I want to address is for all followers becoming a part of our email list. Many of you access these teaching via Facebook which is good but as you may be all too well aware there can be issues, and suddenly it is not in your feed. If you click on this article there will be a place where you can add your email address and you will reliably receive everything, we put out, in your email inbox daily.
Again today it seems to me that the Lord wants me to remind us all of a Word, really a challenge, an admonition, by the Lord, I shared a few weeks ago. He said: “My people are reluctant to challenge their paradigms”. A paradigm is basically a person’s way of thinking, speaking, and doing. This is applicable to groups and organizations as well (like our Church). The Noah Webster 1828 dictionary defines a paradigm as an example; or a model. Other dictionaries define paradigm as a typical example or pattern of something; a model. In our spiritual world that would include how we pray, how we conduct a Church service, and so on. Let us take the Lord’s challenge and examine our thoughts, our words, our ways. That is to look for the Bible example of everything we think, speak, and do. Yes, everything! If it is not God’s paradigm, then whose is it? Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 8:13-18 (KJV)
13 Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.
14 And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
15 And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.
16 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.
17 And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.
18 Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.
Yesterday we spent some time on the word, idea, reality, of sanctifying the Lord of hosts. This of course applies to Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for us in our time. God is to occupy a position that only He occupies which is far above all others in our lives. When I say all others, I am speaking of thoughts, words, actions, things, activities, and persons. Today let’s give some thought, study to Him, God (all three persons of the co-equal God) being a sanctuary for us. He (They) is to be a set apart, holy, and sacred place. Let’s take a look at the 14th verse to two other translations of the Bible. First the Amplified Bible.
Isaiah 8:14 (AMP)
14 And He shall be a sanctuary [a sacred and indestructible asylum to those who reverently fear and trust in Him]; but He shall be a Stone of stumbling and a Rock of offense to both the houses of Israel, a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Now, the Complete Jewish Bible.
Isaiah 8:14 (CJB)
14 He is there to be a sanctuary. But for both the houses of Isra’el he will be a stone to stumble over, a rock obstructing their way; a trap and a snare for the inhabitants of Yerushalayim.
We will deal much more with the latter portion of this verse tomorrow but for now consider that He is our sanctuary, however, like everything in the Kingdom it is by faith and must be declared out of our own mouths. Let’s see what this looks like.
Psalm 91:1-3 (KJV)
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
Psalm 91:9-10 (KJV)
9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
How did we make the Lord our refuge, our fortress, and habitation (our sanctuary)? By saying! What was the resultant reality if we received, proved, believed, resisted all doubt, and acted? It was absolute protection!
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as your Bible Teacher and a Prophetic Voice in your life I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, doubt it not, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
