A WELL OF TRUTH
THE BLESSING OF ABRAHAM – PART NINETEEN
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word, drawing from A Well of Truth. Today we will continue with part nineteen of looking at the Blessing of Abraham. I suspect that same if not many of you are tired of this lengthy lead in to the teaching week after week. I hope you are reading and meditating upon it. Is it true? What evidence do you have from the full counsel of Scripture in context that it is not true? Okay, here we go, perhaps faith will come this week. This is part nineteen and nineteen is the Bible number for faith.
Abraham is so important to the gospel account, the redemption of mankind, that he is called the father of us all (Romans 4:16). This is not to undermine the importance of Jesus, God forbid, but without Abraham there is no Jesus in the earth. This is contrary to what many believe, but sorry to say, no matter how sincere or how hard they pound the table, they believe wrong. God will not, due to the absolute authority He gave man, show up and do contrary to the laws He established. We know this is true on its face (read the Bible). If it were true, He would have redeemed mankind on day one! He did not, why not? He could not! Not that He didn’t have the raw Power or perhaps He could have just changed man to automatically love (obey) Him. Love, real love (agapē) of God, cannot exist without a choice. Subsequently, due to laws God put in place, it took some 4000 years working with and through mankind to bring Jesus into the earth (the Word made flesh). It was the same then as now, we, the people in the earth, children of His or not, are the ones who pull the levers of our lives.
Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. The featured picture is a well with lots of water and bucket full of water about to be drawn from that well. This water is the living Word of God giving us life and cleansing us of the ways of the world. This is vital to the circumcision of our hearts. Receiving life and/or cleansing is not automatic, it is our choice, what have you chosen? Let’s again start our study by going to these familiar Scriptures in the Apostle Pauls’ epistle to the saints at Galatia. Remember to continue reading out loud, yes, out loud. You know why, please don’t be rebellious.
Galatians 3:13-14 (KJV)
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Galatians 3:29 (KJV)
29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Abram was called as a much younger man out of Ur of the Chaldees and it took many years for Abraham (name changed by God in Chapter 17) to build his faith to bring Isaac into the earth. Now perhaps 33 years after the birth of Isaac Abraham is commanded to sacrifice Isaac and in effect Isaac is asked to be a sacrifice. This test in Genesis chapter 22 is vital to creating an iron clad obligation for God (the Father) to send the Word (Jesus) into the earth to be a sacrifice for us. Thank you Father, thank you Jesus, and thank you Helper!
Genesis 22:11-14 (KJV)
11 And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
As you will recall Abraham’s arm is raised clutching the knife to slay his only son whom he loves, Isaac, when the “angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven”. In their minds/hearts there was only one possible outcome this day and that was that they would obey God without question and that God would raise this son of promise from the dead. What about us and our faith, our trust level? Are we fully persuaded of God’s promises with the only option being their realization? Are we willing to do everything God commands without question, without compromise? Contemplate verse twelve. Abraham’s heart, Isaacs hearts were pure towards God. Consider this phrase from verse twelve in light of the Cross; “seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me”. According to Blood Covenant, since Abraham did not withhold his son from God, neither could God withhold His Son from Abraham (representing mankind) and the Blood Covenant stipulating that Abraham would be a blessing to all nations (all of mankind, the Goy or Gentiles).
