A WELL OF TRUTH
COMMUNION – PART TWO

Greetings favored sons and daughters of the Father and welcome back to A Well of Truth and a continuation of our study of the Communion Table. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing, the Lord bless and keep you now and forever. We started this study last week and as you will recall our first glimpse of the Communion Table, the redemption from sin and its terrible effects started in the Garden of Eden on the very Day of Sin and Death. We briefly reviewed how the Communion Table was codified in the Book of Leviticus chapters 23 and 16 (much more detailed). The much clearer prophetic type and shadow comes to us in the Exodus account where we find the protection of the lambs’ blood on the doorposts and the complete consumption of that lamb by the household. The following verse is a picture not only of the effects of that sacrifice and redemption but ours as well.
Psalm 105:37 (KJV)
37 He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.
This sacrifice was not near as good as ours and they walked in the fulness of restoration to the garden, what about you in me? Now, for just a moment I want to return to the account of Abram rescuing Lot and what happened in the Valley of the Kings between the King of Sodom and Melchizedek King of Salem (peace) and High Priest of the Most High God.
Genesis 14:16-21 (KJV)
16 And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.
17 And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king’s dale.
18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.
19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
In the foregoing text (verse 21 [number of exceeding sin]) we see that Satan (King of Sodom) wants the people and is willing that Abram take the stuff. Satan craves worship. Satan (the devil) offered Jesus the same deal in the wilderness. Let’s review that offer and how it was rejected by the Savior.
Luke 4:5-8 (KJV)
5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Now, let’s fast forward to Jesus and His disciples in the Upper Room.
Luke 22:7 (KJV)
7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.
Luke 22:14-20 (KJV)
14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.
15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
Lord willing, I will pick up with part three of the Communion Table next week.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
